Hi Guys,
I have an expression pedal for my Mustang III connected to my 4 button footswitch. I"m trying to get the pedal to work as a volume pedal for my amp selections and when I have it in volume mode, all it does is volume "on" and "off". Is there a setting somewhere that I'm not finding to make the pedal do gradual volume changes so I can do swells as if an Ernie Ball pedal were connected? Any help would be great. Thanks

The only expression pedal that works with the 4 button footswitch is the Fender EX-1. You'd have to use any other expression pedal as a simple volume pedal in between the guitar and the Mustang. I have the EX-1 and it works very well for controlling parameters and volume.

Assuming you do have the EXP-1 pedal, then use FUSE and go to the pedal settings menu (it's in one of the main menu drop-downs, or I think CTRL-E also accesses it; I don't have FUSE in front of me right now to check). From this menu you can configure how you want the volume to change with the pedal, eg 0% in heel position and 100% in toe position. This is all covered in the FUSE documentation.

Also you may need to calibrate your pedal. How to do that is covered in a Fender support article and on this forum - note there is a revised procedure that is slightly different from that in the pedal's documentation (actually, I think the procedure hasn't changed, I suspect it's just that the original documentation was wrong).

Any chance that someone can please post a link to the calibration technique? I can't find that one. Thanks in advance.

Search the Fender Support website for EXP-1 and you get this:

http://www.fender.com/support/articles/ ... ion-pedal/

Halfway down that page it says this:

The EXP-1 expression pedal calibration procedure is as follows:

-Press and hold UTIL while powering on, UTIL LED should light up for 1 second.
-Move the expression pedal between the desired heel and toe endpoints to set the range.
-Turn the encoder knob to the next Preset to complete the process.

To clarify a point that isn't explicit enough in the second step of the above instructions: you must first move the pedal, in one movement, to the desired heel position; then, in one movement, move it to the desired toe position. Do this just once: don't waggle the pedal backwards and forwards, don't move it to the toe position before the heel position, etc.

Also, searching this forum for "pedal calibration procedure" or somesuch yields lots of information on the topic.
