"best settings" will depend entirely on what type of sound you want. So you'll have to tell us what that is, what sound do you want to achieve?

I've never played a resonator guitar but my guess would be to start with something very clean (eg Twin Reverb amp model, or maybe British 60s on low gain) with minimal effects and build from there.

Of course I realise the above pre-supposes you know how to change the amp's settings - or is that actually the question you're asking?

Iamtrying to achieve a blues style sound similar to Blind Boy Fuller,I have tried the very clean sound which i what I am using at the moment, but I am looking for that dirty edge like the old aciustic resonators.

He played acoustically as far as I can figure out, not with an amp (if you know different, post the info here, it may help others help you - although I'm not sure anyone here could tell you what Mustang amp models might best imitate 1930s amp technology!). I would guess any distortion present on recordings is a side-effect (probably considered undesirable at the time!) of the limited recording equipment of the period.

If you want blues crunch, try Fender Deluxe amp model, or British 60s with a bit of gain (might be a bit pop-jangly for what you're trying to achieve). British 70s if you can find a gain 'sweet spot' before it gets too 'rock' sounding may be another option. The Super-Sonic amp model is also quite versatile, but you may have to spend time tweaking both Gain controls to find the right sound - which as you have a Mustang 1 means hooking up FUSE, I don't think you can access the 'Gain 2' control directly on the amp.

Another way of looking at this is: what amp and settings have you used before to obtain the sound you want? If you post those details here, it may help others point you towards comparable Mustang settings.

Sorry to mention it, but seems since using a humbucker pickup that lots of the grit of resonator will be lost, as not getting all that much from the cone. I got myself a Gretsch reso with Fishman reso pickup... you could pickup one of those and give it a try, if you want to put that money in it. I use a Twin Reverb most of the time, and when want to get swampy throw in some tremelo, reverb and delay.

I'm with Scott-UK on this one. For a nice crunch with a mellow-ish tone you can't beat a Fender Deluxe. I'd start with all the EQ's at midpoint and then ever so slightly start adding gain until the sound just begins to break up. Then maybe add a touch more of mids to give it that swampy character.
