I don’t quite get the confusion with fuse… its pictures of amps and pedals that you just click and turn virtual knobs with. I found it a snap to learn and use. Is it the interface or the loading and unloading of presets from the application to the amp that’s confusing? Not criticizing just curious.

linnin, I totally hear what you're saying and that would be a cool service.

As far as being a geek/not a geek, I have a different view on that. I used to teach computer programs to adult students. Every once in a while you'd get the "oh but this stuff comes easy for you" comment. I know it's meant as a compliment, but to me, it kind of translates to "oh you didn't have to work hard to do this" which is far from the truth. I don't know anyone with technical knowledge who didn't have to read books, take classes, and work hard to get informed. When I went to school for IT support, I was also holding down a full time job (and working overtime). Flash forward to that student in the classroom telling me how easy it all came for me. :?

Anything worthwhile requires time and effort along with personal commitment - just like learning to play a musical instrument.

just an analogy impicker2.

Image

In the case of Mustang amps and Fender Fuse, it takes way less effort. We're living in an 'automatic gratification' culture right now, maybe that has something to do with the discontent.

I remember learning MIDI programming entirely by reading product manuals, since the Internet wasn't very useful for stuff like that yet. It was a little work, sure, but when I was done I had an awesome MIDI pedalboard that would change my preamp and effects racks simultaneously with a single button press.

My Mustang III reminds me of that MIDI rig, except everything is self-contained and you don't have to worry about MIDI channels. It's soooo much easier.

You just have to learn how to use one, not design a new model.

I knew nothing about dialling in amps pedals and Fx before the Mustang... wasn't hard.

Or just click around for 10-15 minutes. There are no parameters on Fuse that anyone who has played with a physical pedal or amp should not be familiar with. The exception maybe being Sag and Bias but those too can be easily experimented with or left to their default.

I work in Avid and Protools technical support so I guess I’m pretty used to figuring stuff out but Fuse is just a GUI so I don’t get the confusion.

Don’t be scared just experiment and have fun.
:D

I guess it's amazing how we were able to deal with a command-line interface when we were 10 years old. But if you wanted to play Spy Hunter, you had to put in a little effort.

Yeah, when I was 10 years old (1960) we were shooting slingshots, riding the old plow mule and making chicken feather/corn cob helicopters! Gonna be out for awhile today, will check it out again this evening and come back with some specifics. Thanks!

I believe in you

If you can use the forum, you can use Fuse. It certainly requires less typing.

Good luck

Fuse is pretty simple... one can navigate the Mustang III without any computer chops at all.

I (up until recently) was a full time audio engineer that lived in the world of the absurd, AKA deep DEEP editing in ProTools, Samplitude, you name it... this is such a refreshing change of pace.

And, unlike the tweak factor from all the other modeling systems I tried (and rejected - some rather violently...there is a Line 6 product someplace in the middle of the desert out here, but that's another story) Fuse/Fender's stuff is simple, works, deep where it needs to be but not full of superfluous idiocy that no amplifier on God's earth could ever create.

(Why would I want to simulate putting 4 KT88 tubes into Class B, run them through a bass amp cabinet with 2 blown speakers, and mic them with a $79 Shure from across the room? - I can ruin a guitar would a whole lot easier - I'm looking for something that sounds good)

Well, after being out for a really long while  , I've finally figured out how to use Fuse. The major problem was for some reason my screen was cut off at the bottom and I didn't see the "login" icon (the initial login had timed out). You can imagine what kinda trouble that would cause. I have downloaded some really nice presets from Fuse and I'm more than happy with them, now the whole world has opened up!!! yeah!!! OH HOW HAPPY I AM!!
