Hello,

I'm wondering if it would be possible to plug a microphone into the effects loop so that I can play vocals and guitar through the mustang together for practice?

Thanks,

Andrew

Hi,

Mustangs is fairly BAD used as vocal PA's (they have guitar speakers and you will sound like and old fashioned AM radio!) but if for whatever reason you still want to use it here are the two options

A- via effects loop (mustang 3-4-5 only)
-you are going to need a small mixer for this
-go from mustang fx-send to one of the mixer inputs
-go from your mic to another mix input
-go from mixer output to mustang fx-return

B - via auxiliary input
-you are going to need either a small mixer or a mic preamp for this
-go from your mic to your mixer/preamp input
-go from mixer/preamp output to mustang aux input

Another point about using the fx-loop for this on a Mustang 4/5... those amps have a stereo fx-loop. So you're either going to have the vocal on one channel only, if you use a single connection, or you'll need to rig-up a stereo connection for the microphone/mixer.

Thanks guys, I appreciate your knowledge.

I dont at all plan on doing this for a live situation, only for practice. I have access to a couple of warehouses on the weekend where I can crank up as loud as I want, but then I can't hear myself sing. So I'm not super concerned about sound quality.

Thanks again!
