Would I be able to run two Peavey 110's Image
to a Mustang II
Both speakers are passive, and run at 50 watts.
If my amp can't support one or both speakers, what would I have to get to run both my amp and speakers?

Are you asking if there's a simple way to plug these speakers into your Mustang 2? If so, the answer is 'no' - the Mustang combo amps don't provide sockets for external speakers. (and in case you were about to ask, no you can't use the headphones socket for this purpose - unless you're planning to run the headphone socket to an external power amp, and thence to the speakers, but I don't think that's what you mean).

If you're asking whether you can open up your M-2, disconnect the internal speaker and connect new cables to the Mustang's speaker wires, taking these new cables to the external speakers - then yes, this is theoretically possible. You need to make sure the impedance of the external speakers matches the impedance of the internal speaker. Plus usual caveat that you'll void your warranty and risk breaking your amp and electrocuting yourself, etc.

NB if the two speakers and (for example) 8 ohms and (for example, I don't know if these are the exact figures) your internal speaker is 8 ohms, that doesn't mean all is ok. You have to either connect the external speakers in series (16 ohms) or parallel (4 ohms). The former will give you a quieter and possibly less distinct sound. The latter will break your amp if you crank it too high. I mention this to emphasise you need to understand what you're doing with impedance before attempting this.

NB2 you say "run at 50 watts" which makes me think maybe you think the speakers are going to try and suck 50 watts from your amp and break it; don't worry that won't happen! The speaker rating needs to be higher than the amp rating, which in your case it is. (Apologies if that isn't what you meant, thought it worth mentioning just in case)

I was indeed asking about running my amp to an external power amp also. Just anything to get the system running.
I'm sorry if I sound ignorant, because most of my speaker knowledge came from a nights research. I just figured on the issue of wattage it would work as a power source, since a passive speaker needs power from somewhere.

So i think the best course of action would be to route it all to a power amp. Would any power amp do? Like if their is a wattage capacity that would be suitable for my setup, or would it be good to have a surplus?

I really appreciate the help!

First my apologies, the very thing you're thinking of doing is the one thing I assumed you weren't thinking of doing...

You need a power amp that is LESS THAN 50 watts per channel (otherwise you risk overloading the speakers), and that is suitable for the impedance of your Peavey speakers. For example, an amp might state that it is suitable for 4 or 8 ohm speakers, or only 8 ohms, or 8-16 ohms, etc. The amp might have a switch to select the impedance so you can correctly match it to your speakers. Also some amps might quote a different power output depending on the speaker impedance - check you look at the appropriate set of numbers.

The interesting question back to you is: what is your purpose in doing this? (Nothing wrong with doing it, just curious what you aim to achieve).

Well, I recently received those two speakers for free, and me being the aspiring guitarist took it as a sign to upgrade. I've been hoping to go into the realm of live performing, and since I'm really amateur this seemed like just the ticket.

So, I'd like to get louder in my home and hopefully perform.
Plus it doesn't hurt to educate yourself.

Hi Girthor,

Just chiming in. Based on the discussion here, and the detailed information form our outstanding Fender® Forum member "scott-uk", I might would suggest the idea of purchasing a powered PA head to go with your speakers. You may want to contact Peavey and ask them what powered PA head they might suggest.

This way, you could, for example connect the headphone output of the guitar amp to an input channel(s) on the PA head. This would also give you the option of connecting a microphone or other equipment to the PA head as well. We do not suggest that you open your amp's cabinet under any circumstance. This is for both safely and warranty reasons. But please do let us know if we can assist any further from our end.

Best Regards,

Alan
