I've heard it called 'tweaked out' - it sounds to me like tons of chorus, delay and reverb, but I can't quite seem to dial this in right ... here are a couple of examples:

Does anyone have a preset like this to share, or care to take a stab at it?

Yes, plenty of chorus, delay and this reverb tweak monster.

No preset on the Stangs that I can think of, but send me some wave files and I will have you dancing to the 80s with or without hair bands using my UAD card with a whole panoply of presets and a ton of plugs. I mean plug-ins not hair plugs.

I'm guessing the Tri-Chorus would be the one to use on that type of sound.

LOVE that tone.

Hi,
just 2 reflections:

- many famous pop clean tones in the '80 was made in studio with solid state stereo Roland Jazz Chorus 120 a.k.a. JC120 . The embedded chorus is famous and was a reference.
I think to remember a photo in one of my guitar books, where Andy Summers of Police used right a Roland solid state amp... but perhaps it wasn't the JC120.

- the effect on Cyndi song could be, given the time, even a flanger with low depth and other settings to produce a chorus-like effect. These effects family in part are flexible because they are based on the same phenomenon of delays between two signals .. But the chorus as we know has a range of delay times very short, but where it ends so to say the chorus, begins the flanger.

I think you're right on the money with this Dimitri. I did some searching of the preset library and found this which is pretty darn close to what I was looking for, and features a flanger:

The amp model used in the above preset is the Twin, which is probably as close as you're going to get to a Roland JC type amp on the Mustang.

Also in my searching, I downloaded this 'Message in a Bottle' preset. It doesn't sound exactly like the tone in the recording, but I could see using this preset in a cover band:

https://fuse.fender.com/mustang/presets ... -a-bottle/

Thanks for the insights folks, very much appreciated! 8)

Yes, of course , the Twin Reverb and would say also the Studio Preamp raising more the Gain and tweaking the eq...
there is also a preset shared by Jedi2B in Fuse Community to emulate the JC120.

Yes, the Roland JC120 amp is really cool and dates back to the mid 70s. Fender put out a cheaper version called the Fender Princeton Chorus in the late 80s that I use with my Mustang Floor when not plugging into PA. It has a true stereo chorus circuit utilizing two 25-watt power amplifiers with two 10" speakers. The chorus on this amp sounds freaking great as well.

A little over a week ago I replaced a couple of input jacks on this amp which required me to buy a *desoldering* gun to remove the old jacks and then soldered the 9 pin input jack and the 4 pin foot switch jack into the PCB board which had to be completely removed. I had broken a reverb tank feed off the mainboard and resoldered that as well.

I then put everything back together with a whole bunch of wires along with dozens of screws, washers, knobs, etc.

I then went to turn the amp on and there was nothing, and then I realized the power strip was turned off. Everything is working and sounds great! YES!!!

I really am enjoying the Floor and my Mustang amp. The versatility is endless and OCD sufferers beware.

THE END
