How can I record my guitar? Is there a way to do it with the Mustang plugged into my computer? I have Audacity, Ableton Live 9 Lite, and Amplitude Fender thing.

I did manage to make a recording before, I also have Rocksmith's USB adapter, but the sound came out like crap.

Search this forum and the Fender support website for the word "ASIO" and you'll find everything you need, and more.

To help you get started, see this:

I would use Audacity at first to work out any input issues. Then you can mess with Ableton. Audacity is waaay more simple and easy to get going with. If you hit a particular stumbling block, please post the specifics here and we can try to help.

Totally confused. I have the ASIO driver now. Thanks.

Now what do I do with Audacity?

I followed the instructions for Ableton since there was instructions. I went to Preferences, Audio tab, made sure Fender ASIO was selected. It told me to go to Hardware Setup. When I do that the software just exits.

Audacity and Ableton are just two of MANY different brands of software referred to as "DAW's", or Digital Audio Workstations. These are typically very sizeable and complex pieces of software, and learning to use them effectively is no small matter.

It's really not feasible on a forum like this for someone to give you an outline of all of the intricacies of setting these up and using them. I would suggest going to YouTube as there are a number of good videos covering most of the aspects of both Ableton and Audacity as well as most other brands of DAWs. You may first need to examine whether or not your computer meets the specifications for the software. As I said before, these are pretty complex pieces of software and need some pretty demanding speciications on your computer to run correctly.

My advice at this stage is to simply pick one and go that route. All of them do pretty much the same things at the very basic level, so just spend your time learning one of them and you should be good to go.

I'm with Dunedindragon on this. You're best off sticking with one and learning it front to back. Its not going to be easy for anyone here that has experience with DAWs to guide you through the entire process on a forum. You're next step now that you have the ASIO driver installed will be to create a track, arm it, verify you're getting input and output and record. Beyond that, i'd suggest youtube tutorials for step by step guides that include visual aides. I'd also recommend working with Audacity first. Its way more intuitive and simple especially for a beginner to the DAW world. Ableton IMO is pretty complicated so you might find yourself getting unnecessarily frustrated.

That's probably covered in the Audacity instructions; it seems unnecessary to reproduce it all here. If you don't already have them, you can find them at this website:
http://audacity.sourceforge.net/help/documentation

The best sort of question to ask here and get meaningful help would be to give us a bit of detail about what exactly you've done (eg how far you've got through the Audacity setup instructions), and then what is happening (or not happening!) that is different to what you expect, or what the instructions say should happen at that point.

Audacity also have their own forum (click the 'contact us' link on the above webpage), you may find some more audacity-specific help there.
