Hello everyone,

i am considering a Mustang III or IV for Banduse but also like the Mustang Floor in terms of Display and versatility while playing. Usually i´ve set up my floorboard with Patches (and names) like Patch 1 = "Song 1 Verse" and Patch 2 = "Song 1 Refrain" ....

But using the 4-Button Footswitch it only shows the Patchnumbers, right? So i would have to remember all the Patchnumbers.

Is it possible to control the Presets in the Mustang Amp using a Mustang Floor as a Footswitch?

Correct. On the footswitch you can only see the numbers. You can see the names on the LCD display on the amp itself (for Mustang 3, 4, 5)

No. This has been asked for before but is not possible.

It is too bad that Fender doesn't have the layout of the Floor for these amps. It is a good question? I love my Floor and I love my Mustang amp. It would be really cool to have the functionality of the Floor integrated some day. I currently use my Floor with a solid state Fender Princeton Chorus and/or my PA.

This poses an interesting question: what's the difference between:

1. A Mustang Floor going into a 'neutral' power amp / speaker

2. A Mustang amp with a Mustang-Floor-alike foot controller (ie the foot controller just switches the amp, it does no audio processing itself)

Aren't these just two different ways of doing the same thing? In which case why would Fender bother making (2) when (1) already exists?

I don't know how to answer that, but the Floor has an expression pedal along with a huge LED where I can see my patch names, big tuner, and getting around to the different presets is much more robust especially when adding stomps and effects to individual patches.

A Floor just triggering a Mustang amp without the modeling would be cool IMHO instead of having to buy the pedals that don't do nearly as much.

Why buy the Mustang foot switches when the shell of the Floor could do it all. Am I making any sense, it has been a busy day.

I dunno, I see your point wholeheartedly though.

So I guess the request is not really for the Floor to control the Mustang III/IV, because then you are paying for two modelers while using only one, but rather for Fender to make a foot controller with the form factor of the Floor but without any of the modeling capabilities...it would just be a "dumb" foot controller that controls the MIII/IV hardware and sells for a hundred bucks. I'd definitely buy that. But I guess Fender is thinking exactly what scott-uk said above. If you want the Floor form factor, they figure you will just buy the Floor and hook it up to a neutral power amp/cabinet or PA system.

I actually brought this subject up in the Fuse forum. There is a way to get the name of your current preset displayed and that's to use the Fuse software. I've done this onstage with a windows tablet plugged into the USB port. It works, but the response is rather slow due to the overhead of the Fuse software and it's display. I think the simple 1/4 inch interface via the 4-button switch is too basic to allow it to know anything more than which preset has been chosen. The Mustang Floor, on the other hand, already knows everything about the preset since it's the modeler.

I proposed a downsized/subset form of the Fuse software that could be integrated into a simple footswitch connected to the USB port and would be used for live performance rather than for creating or modifying presets. I think that may be the only real answer to this problem.
