Hi guys, just treated myself to a Mustang 1 V2 (to replace a Line 6 Spinder IV, actually it has gone back to get it fixed after just 4 months of use, and TBH did not get on with it)
In the other hand, I am super happy so far with my new amp, it does exactly what I need.
I am a beginner, started learning since last September, and so far have been practicing every day (except for a couple of days where I could not :( ) . This new hobby is driving me nut but i love it!!
Quick question, and i know i really need to start reading the manual and a few post on the forums. But if I wanted to achieve a BB King tone with my amp, what would be the best setup to use, or as I understand I could download/upload a setup ready to use to get that tone, am I correct?

Well for starters you want to find your soul mate and with BB it was his guitar Lucille. Second, BB hits the strings hard and uses very light gauge strings. Grab one of the Fender amps, the Twin, Deluxe, and go for that woman tone and learn the concept of call and response along with studying all aspects of his playing, licks, vibrato, etc.

However, in all my years I have never ever emulated a guitarist's tone, style or sound because it was his and I want to sound like me. I wouldn't even cop solos for fear I would sound like everybody else. Harder to learn that way but I have been fronting all original bands for over two decades and I sound different to say the least.

With that said, ever since I picked up my Mustangs I have been in this classic rock mode and have been ripping off every famous riff known to mankind.

To add, back long ago when I lived in San Francisco, I had a wonderful much older guitarist friend and mentor who played with BB King and Count Basie, among others. He said that BB King did not ever play rhythm guitar so I guess you should focus on lead playing only. :P

BB King mainly plays a Lab Series L5, but he's also been known to play a Fender Twin Reverb. So I'd start with the '65 Twin Reverb model and tweak from there. Just guessing from my impressions when I hear his stuff, I'd start with the Bass in about the 10 o'clock position, Mids in the 2 or 3 o'clock position, and the treble maybe in the 1 o'clock position. He may have a very slight gain dialed in with a light spring reverb.

Thanks dunedindragon, I will experiment with this though that i am a complete newbie and right now learning some BB King lick via TrueFire and the guy and the video has a wicked sound, obviously he has a different amp but i just want to get as close as possible
