Hey All,

I have a Mustang V Head/Cabinet which I've been very happy with so far, but the one annoying thing about it is that every time I shut it off and turn it back on, it reverts to preset "00". It there any way of having the amp automatically default to a different preset? Or how about return to whatever the last preset I was using like most other devices do?

I know I could just take what I want to be my default tone and save it to spot '00' but I was hoping to not have to do this if possible.

This is what you have to do - put your default tone into preset 00. You can't make the amp switch on to any other preset (whether a fixed one or the last one used).

Exactly. I was kind of lost in the choices, and a bit irritated at having to search so hard for THAT sound that I wanted.

Once I found it, and made it my default things got a lot easier. I rarely even bother going through the other sounds, now. I also saved a nice clean tone as 01- just 65 twin w/ some reverb. ( vintage trem is also loaded but defaults to off)

Everything else, dirtwise, and fx wise, I do with my pedal set up. I now spend more time playing, and less faffing about with the amp.

That's the kind of change to the firmware I have also requested some time ago: viewtopic.php?f=27&t=90885&start=15
Unfortunately it's not in the recently released v.2.2 but who knows, if there's more of us asking for such a change, Fender will implement it :)

The trouble with Fender making this sort of change in the firmware, is that there are probably just as many Mustang owners who prefer (and have organised their presets to rely on) the current behaviour, as would like the proposed change.

So if Fender were to change this, it would have to be something that is configurable either way - eg via a UTIL menu setting: 'power-on to preset 00' or 'power-on to last-used preset' etc. Otherwise the change would upset as many people as it pleases.

Yeah, you're right, I had the same though yesterday. I fully agree that a setting like that would make everybody happy.

Or maybe those, who prefer current setup change their mind when during the gig someone stumbles upon a power extension cord and disconnects their amp :) Then they have to switch back to the preset they need and adjust all necessary knobs, if they made some changes live...
I just think it's easier to switch to 00 if needed than to fight with all settings after each turn-off/turn-on cycle :)

If you play live, get the four button footswitch, and use the quick access feature for your stage sounds. Once you dial in the amp for the venue, save the changes, and make those your qa presets.
