Hi everyone
This is my first post, so a little about myself. I am retired and trying to learn how to play Guitar. It's #1 on my bucket list.
I have a Deluxe Players Strat and a Mustang Mini amp.
The first song I am trying to play is House of The Rising Sun...just love that song.
To sound similar to the original can someone suggest the amp settings and the switch position on the guitar.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Paddy

Welcome Paddy and three cheers to your bucket list!!!

Pick any amp model and any switch position and just play that song to your hearts content because that song is so old we don't even know who wrote it and has been done by so many artists in so many ways I cannot even begin to count.

If you want the Animals version, start with any of these (these are some of the default presets)

G-7 Bassman Splash
R-5 60s Sparkle
R-8 Chimey Deluxe
A-6 Touch of Reverb
A-7 Bassman Drive
(from memory they should be ok to get started, but some might be way off !)

Turn gain down if you want it smoother. Up if you want more grit.
Use neck or middle pickup (switch on the guitar position 1, 2 or 3 (so not 4 or 5 they might be too trebly))
Fiddle with the tone till it sounds a bit like it.
May need to cut back on the reverb or echo fx.. though original has reverb.
Figure out how to save the preset sound you like!

As HIO says just play it lots and after a while you'll get to know how to adjust the amp - all part of the fun of learning !
