How do I get a totally clean sound out of my new Fender Mustang III V2, no distortion at all?

it's like any other amp, turn off any distortion stomp boxes and turn the gain down.

I sure have tried that with several presets and still if you strum the guitar the least little bit hard it distorts?

use the basic presets in the 90's range on the amp. there, you should trun all knobs to zero. and than go at it. to get more, use Fuse and there you can edit the cabs, tubes, etc. Trust me the M3 V2 has a really great clean sound!!! Example, I used the prest Active clean for my Gretsch, and then tweaked the settings to my liking, Works great!!! These amps do take time to adjust and learn a bit. You will be happy in time!

do you have high gain pickups? I have no such issue - I find the Princeton model has a nice clean sound.

+1
I was using the princeton for my clean. Didn't seem as clean after i switched bridge pickup from CS69 (6k-ish) to SSL5 (13k-ish) still clean now if i back off on the volume but i found i get better results now with the 65 Twin with the new Pickup.

this is what i use for my clean but with the OD stomp turned off.

Same here with my EMG81/85.

If I go all out it's really saturated effect. Roll it back just a smidge and it smoothes out.

:D Wow, you guys are right, there is hope. I've spend the last two hours making other modifications and am now getting some REALLY CLEAN and deep tones. I've even changed the speakers in fuse to help with the sound. The Princeton sure is clean, almost too clean now. Thanks you guys. Now I'm having some fun again.

As for the guitar I'm using, it's a rare Fender D'Aquisto with two humbuckers (my sweetheart) and it is really clean and deep sounding. I also use an Ibanez Art Core with two humbuckers for most beating around practicing which also has good full range sound.

I have an Artcore. It is a 'keeper'.

I was contemplating getting one.

Good looking guitar.

As for Ibanez Artcore, you cannot buy a better guitar for the price from any company. Great sound, well adjusted right out of the box and ready to go. Gotta love good guitars

Me too, I have a very good Ibanez Artcore, real steal for the price. Regarding the Artcore with the mustang, as any other jazz box, only certain tones will sound "right" (if that makes sense).
My artcore is mainly used with twin (both models), deluxe (65 not 57!) and princeton, but other than that sounds muddy as hell, which is expected.

For other amps or to use effects do yourself a favor and switch to any solidbody.

For best tone with the Ibanez, I use heavy strings (13-56 flats)
http://www.daddario.com/DADProductDetai ... ium__13_56)
very hard on the fingers, but very soft to the ears :)

If you want clean sound, turn the gain right down to zero, master volume up a bit, set the preset volumes on 57, 65, and Princeton on 3 or 4 and the amp is very clean and very clear especially with the Princeton Amp present. Almost too clear for most work but then you can always adjust the preset treble and mid tone controls accordingly. In Fuse software advanced amp settings you have a choice of the speakers you might wish to use, try them, some sound better than others for particular types of playing. The amplifier is eminently capable if you can figure out how to adjust it. Richer tones can also be acquired by lowering the preset volume and raising the Master volume on the amp. I too use the '57, '65 Twins and Princeton for presets almost exclusively now. Its just not right of Fender to not provide good, clean, rich presets for us to use with this amp right from the factory. It took me over four days altering presents and playing with the Fuse software to figure out how to get a sound I could work with. This forum was very helpful to me. Thanks all!

Hi Jedi,
just to say... about good strings: i have just ordered this,http://www.lordofthestrings.com/lots/RAPRD/Optima-2028RL-Electric-Gold-Regular/11005011.html
some years ago i tried the Optima Brian May signature but was 0.09 gauge ...
now i choose the 0.10 (regular gauge) for my electric guitar (Yamaha SG800) ... because the old set of strings by Jimi Hendrix (this http://www.conrad.com/medias/global/ce/3000_3999/3000/3040/3041/304162_BB_00_FB.EPS_1000.jpg
have to be replaced... expecially bass strings have loose their balanced brighteness... even using GHS Fast Fret.

the 24K gold plated strings was the choice also of Frank Zappa to name one big musician.
and even they are a little more expensive than others i think it worth , my strings usually last even up to 2 years.. and these are also suitable for those who could have a sweat acid.

Dimitri
