Well crap!!! My fulldrive quit working!
I thought this thing was built like a tank!!! It prolly weighs over 2 pounds...
But sadly she breathed her last Tuesday evening... Failing foot switch
Luckily Sweetwater gives an automatic 2 year warranty. I sent them an e-mail and got a response to the effect of "... If you can get it to us, we will cover repairs and return shipping..."
So Good on ya Sweetwater!
But this got me to thinking...
I have had horrible luck with foot switches! I consider myself Extremely gentle with my gear, but this is like the 4th pedal I have owned where the switch has crapped out.

Fulldrive II Foot Switch failed
Ibanez PT5 Foot Switch failed
V-Stack (original) Footswitch failed
Joyo Ultimate Drive Foot Switch failed (no surprise on this one I guess)
Even my T-Rex Crunchy Frog that I am using to cover for my fulldrive has failed to switch properly once. So I expect to lose it soon

I play in church and ALWAYS are in socked feet! Nothing spiritual... ;) just use feel a lot of times to get to the correct switch... I sing and can't really look down too often.

Sounds like you might have a lead foot. How are you with the gas? Do you put the pedal to the metal? Got many tickets?

What's more amazing to me than the failures is the fact you'd think you need so many different types of pedals given the effects and models available on the Mustang. I'm down to three pedals: POG 3, Acoustic Simulator, and Harmony Man. If it weren't for the fact the Mustang harmonizer can't do three-part harmonies I'd be down to two.

Ha ha! I meant over the years all of these have failed... Yea, that would be excessive! 8)
Right now a couple of drive pedals is all I am using.
Reason is I like to stay on the same amp model... don't know why... I am just a freak i think!
On the M-Floor, I have 4 patches set up all using the Twin Reverb Model. I have each patch set up with mostly the same delays and stomp box models, but each one has a different Modulation effect controlled by the expression pedal. I use external drives so I can switch patches and continue to maintain the current OD amount... if that make sense...
It does in my feeble mind, or it did until I saw it written out like this... now I don't know!

You are not a freak and by the looks of your avatar you are some kind of bird or penguin and what you are doing makes perfect sense.

I still can't tell what Mordecai is though but I am certain these amps must be a Mustang 2 and 3 respectively and his voice is a dead ringer for Paul Stanley from KISS. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5WoiKGI_AX4

Agree. I also like to use one model, pretend it's a real deluxe or a real twin or whatever, clean, and use real pedals. ESPECIALLY when using a looper pedal to create more than one track.....gotta have the rhythm tracks clean.

I actually think the mustang is so awesome that I no longer even pay attention to the 100 presets or their names or whatever. I just pick my amp and adjust the settings before the song like a "real amp." Basically I never leave the basic amp models. All of them have some pedal "attached" but off, and then I use the 4 button switch in mode 3 and it's like having the 3 pedals plus my real pedals that I have.

I would also agree that the amp's modeling sounds great and my method would be unnecessary in a live band setting where I'm only one "track" and one sound is all I get.. then I'd have my clean, crunch, high gain settings as my 3 options, I guess, or even then I might use the twin and a pedal on and off.

there are actually so many good options on the mustang that it messes with my OCD (obsessive compulsive disorder, not the pedal)

Like for a lead tone:

90s on the amp, with or without overdrive, clean model with overdrive, the champ with good gain (awesome tone) with or without pedal, orange,....they are all awesome sounding.

lately I have been using twin model very clean with an overdrive pedal for crunch, pretending I have the real thing. just because it's fun.

You are not missing anything! The Twin model is a beautiful rendition of the real thing and I don't even like to call this a patch/preset what have you, because it is so very close to sounding like the *real* thing.

But here is where the Stang wins out. At low volume and especially with an OD. Your ears will thank you and me one day if you take this to heart. Oh darn and I fergot to mention all of the other things the Mustang can do that the real Twin cannot but then again i would be writing another freaking book.

I had one and it is 64 lbs. and a back breaker for sure. Why do some artists require roadies? Rhetorical question and no need to respond.

I still do have those two mint 65 Deluxe Reverb Reissues to sell with original packaging and boxes if you still want to taste the real thing and much lighter. Warning though, they are deafening when cranked to the way I want them with an OD of course. Enjoy your Mustang; I sure am and look mom no hands and I can still hear.

and a hand breaker too - nothing like picking up 64lbs using one hand and a 1" wide strap, and then playing a musical instrument!

LOL

True… loved my Hot Rod Deville 4x10… HATED carrying up to my fourth floor apt in Brooklyn… Part of me is kinda glad it got stolen … well not really but I sure hope the perps needed back surgery after taking it and that said surgery when horribly wrong leaving them with permanent back issues.
