Hello, I am a proud new owner of the Stang 3. So far I am very please with what it can do. Just one major downfall that I noticed. When I crank the volume above 4 (with a clean tone) I start to hear a static/fizz noise. I was wondering if having the volume high makes all amps in the market sound like that? It gets worse when I put a distortion preset on. When I hold the strings down as in muting them all the noise goes away. Please let me know if this is normal, I really don't want to return this fine piece of equipment for the price.

before people say, "do your research" I'd like to say I have and can't find anyone that mentioned volume causing these fizzy static noises. So any help would be greatly appreciated.

Version 1 or version 2?
(if you bought new from a shop it should be v2, it's been out over a year)
v1 was known to suffer from fizz

Probably some of the settings? Honestly, some of the factory presets just plain suck.

I was messing round with mine the other day and got horrible low volume fizz on the Marshall model. Somehow had a cranked fuzz fx on it, set on low volume.

I'd turn off all the Fx and modulations first and see if it still happens.

So you only hear the noise when you are not playing anything? My guess is that it's just noise from your pickups (because you can mute the noise by muting your strings).

4 is pretty loud on a mustang and it's normal to hear some kind of static noise on any amp, like pickup hum, feedback, string noise, etc. Try using a different guitar or different pickups selection to see if the noise lessens or gets worse.

If you hear noise, fizz, fuzz, static, etc, while you are playing the guitar, that could be an issue.

Ahh missed that. Sounds like the pickup cavity could do with copper shielding. My Tele was bad for that no matter how far from the amp I got. Afterwards, next to nothing.

markcc Yes, I have the version 2

Drubbing That is interesting to hear. I am just curious (sorry noob question). How do you turn down the modulation and stuff? All I know how to turn off is the ones with the knobs in front of the amp (volume, reverb, bass, etc). I see modulation and delay smaller buttons but don't really know how to turn them off.

Scorpaeon Yes I believe the sound only happens when I'm not playing. I use a Gibson les paul studio. Do you think the pickup plates could do something with it? I plan on testing my amp at another location tomorrow in hope of luck that it may just be something fixable. I really don't want to return it because I'm loving it other than this issue.

Just wanted to say thanks for replying everyone! I will try some of your suggestion and hope it could it make the situation better if possible. :)

On a 3, you're probably going to have to use the lcd screen. On a 1 and 2 they've got dedicated knobs.

To turn off an effect on the MIII simply push the button below the LCD screen that applies to that effect. Stomp, modulation, delay or reverb. Each preset's readout tells you which fx are active, just press the appropriate button to turn them off.

Press it again to turn it back on.

Press and hold to go to the menu to change effects, or to adjust effect parameters. Turn the data wheel to change effects. To tweak an effect's controls, press the data wheel. The first virtual knob will be highlighted. Turn the data wheel to change that setting. To go to the next control, press the data wheel again.

thanks so much guys! I tried it and found out that my amp was fine. Just a minor hiss noise but I think any amp that loud would have a minor hiss also. I'm glad I don't have to return my amp because this amp kicks arss :D. Thanks again guys! Greatly appreciated.

Glad to hear there's nothing wrong with the amp. Minimizing unwanted noise is just something guitarists have to work at.

Something else you can do is turn up the noisegate. Not sure how to access it on the amp, but its in advance amp settings on Fuse.

try the following, while using the preset you want, press the AMP white button twice on the amp, this will bring you to the advanced amp settings.

Then push down several times the preset change knob until the noise gate control is selected.

Using a noise gate = "low" normally has very low impact on the guitar tone and string dynamics while eliminating most sources of not-loud noise.

You can also adjust the noise gate with Fuse software.
