Hello fellow mustang riders.

Made an interesting discovery over the weekend. I had always thought the 4x12 cab simulations sounded a bit forced and emulated coming throught the lone 12 inch speaker on my mustang II so on a whim I tried the 65 Deluxe and Princeton cab on the JCM800 amp model. The Deluxe cab worked well but had a little too much bump in the top end but the Princeton just hit it in the right spot. I really think it works well. To my ears and with my pickups I think it sounds much more present, natural, real, less boxy whatever you want to call it. Anyway, I now have a heavy marshall preset I can call my own and have it be a keeper. Sure to some it might not sound like a Marshall stack but I’m happy to have it sound like a good marshally combo.

Anyway

Here’s the preset if anyone is interested.

Adrian's 10 inch... Marshall

Absolutely, Princeton is my go-to cab for flat-but-no-highs. A variation, more interesting in some situations is the Deluxe 57 cab.

For a mid scoop I go to SS112 and 212

For high end 2x2C

I'm never quite certain about all the 4x... models, they do not sound bad but is not the kind of tone I go after

Yeah I don’t think the 4x’s sound “Bad” I just feel like they sound like a recorded cab rather than it being in the room if that makes any sense. Thanks for the tip on the cabs. I’ll have to try that out and I’ve been curious about the EQ characteristics of some of the others so much appreciated.
