I heard somewhere that the fender mustang V.2 can be used as a bass amp, is this true?

I don't want to risk this myself without more knowledge for fear of ruining my equipment, thanks in advance!

I would hazard a guess and say... doubtful.
You may get away with it for low volume practice or recording.
But prolly won't hold up on a stage!
But I don't know. I don't own the combo.

Fender say no, but I used my bass no problem with MII
it was only at a band meet up in a room (not a rehearsal room, a house room) , so wasn't that loud - volume less than 4 I guess

At any real volume you will risk blowing the speakers... it is a guitar amp not a bass amp. The inclusion of a Bassman amp model doesn't change that.

Tiger is right. If you increase the volume enough, the bass notes will force the guitar speaker in to a longer excursion that what it is capable of.
If you are lucky, you will hear it mechanically clicking when it happens, so you can turn the volume down... if you are not lucky, well, it will be a costly learned lesson.

Thanks for all the reply's everyone! Very useful, I thought it sounded a bit risky. I won't be trying it because I don't want to ruin my amp.

buddy of mine tried that with one of my prized amps I left at his house for the weekend practice. Wasn't pretty when he finally told me he tried a Bass guitar through it.

In addition to the issue of how Fender setup the input on the M3v2 (setup for guitar doesn't seem to be an unreasonable assumption), I don't recall many open-back bass combos or cabinets. All of the bass rigs I've used have been closed back. Now I'm curious. Bass players: What bass combos or cabinets are/were open back?

I sometimes plug a bass into my MII V.2, but I really need a compressor before play it, if didn't it would possibly damaging my speaker, and I just play it at medium-low volume for practicing myself not at full band practice with high volume.

I remember that from a post in 2010, before the v2 amps came out:

Fender TSL wrote:
Hey Guys,

There is no HPF on the Mustang's input. I'm sure you're aware that any kind of mod will void your warranty. Using the Mustang as a bass amp will void the warranty as well.

I believe the volume difference you're hearing is related to amplifier wattage.

But then there's this video from NAMM 2013 where Richard Heins (a Product Manager at Fender Musical Instruments Corporation) says you can plug in a bass (at 0:33):
