I have a Mustang III V.2 on its way from Sweetwater Sound and I am wondering about using an expression pedal with it. Anyone know if you can use any pedal or does it have to be the Fender EXP-1? I have a Boss pedal that I use with mt GT-8. Any input(no pun intended) would be great! Thanks!

The EXP-1 is a Mustang proprietary pedal that works as a combo expression/volume pedal and plugs into the footswitch input jack of the amp. It can be plugged in and the 4-button footswitch can then be daisy-chained to it. The Exp-1 draws power from the amp and does not require a battery or separate a/c plug.

However, you can use pretty much any expression pedal with the Mustang you want; but you would plug those pedals directly between the guitar and amp's guitar input or plug them into the amp's effects loop. They would not work through the footswitch input.

Thank you TigerJ! I'll try my Boss first and then likely buy the Fender just for ease. I bought the 4 button also so what's one more purchase! You know us musicians are just rolling in the dough!

Yeah right! I am jonesing for a EXP-1 for my Mustang V, but am balking at the $89.99 street price. Hoping to find a gently used one or a sale!

the EXP-1 is a little pricey but SO useful. I'd definitely recommend going with the EXP-1 to get the most out of your MIII.
