Hey guys,

I'm kinda lost trying to figure out how to get a tone out of my mustang that is similar like Devin Townsend's: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2_vOX3s9f_w.
(Very inspiring artist for me personally, definately worth checking out if you don't know him, very eclectic mix of music he has)

I know that the guy uses a Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier and lots of echo and delay stuff, so naturally I've been fiddling with the American90's model, but I can't my tone even close.
My main problem is getting the sound dirty, but kinda smooth in a way as well. Another problem is that anything but a perfect fourth or a power chord sounds like complete $@!& with distortion on, while all chords are sounding great with a dirty tone on the recording, so it should be possibly in a way, right?

Any thoughts and tips on this?

Thanks!

start by lowering the amp gain to no more than 1.5 if you are going to use extra distortion on an already ultra-hot amp. then try with different combinations of gain/level of the OD. If you increase the level lower the gain and viceversa.
