I usually don't hook my pedalboard up to my mustang III as I find it got everything I need on the amp. im running a

Ibanez fz-7 fuzz->Boss DS-1->DOD FX40B EQ(used as boost)->Visual sound H2O.

I had it hooked up tonight and i found the 65'twin set nice and clean (3.5-4 Gain) was really good for both dirt pedals mentioned.

I really like the 59'bassman model set up decently dirty (7 Gain) for the ds-1 it gave a really nice think British sounding distortion, but it didn't cooperate with the fuzz too much way to muffly sounding.

The 57'Deluxe sounded good with both dirt pedals as well.

There the only 3 amp models I've tried with my pedalborad hooked up to the amp. Out of the 3 the 65'twin is my favorite when relying on pedals for dirt.

Just wondering what models others use when using a external stompbox for dirt.

Also correct me if im wrong but i assume the pedals i hook up in front of the amp comes before all the effects on the amp. And what pedals i put in the effects loop comes after whats on the amp

you got it right, generally effects like delay, reverb and chorus sound best in the fx loop,. wah's, fuzz, and distortions work best straight to the front of the amp, there are no rules, it comes down to preference and I find this works best for me,

I've had the best luck with the 65 Deluxe/Princeton and 65 Twin.

I've got a nice setting I use with a TS-808 in front of the amp's input

Amp: British 80s
Cab: 2x12C

Gain: 5
Volume: 9
Treble: 8
Middle: 8
Bass: 5
Presence: 9

I throw in some Sine Chorus and a bit o' 'verb to make it nice. It is very clean and bright normally, and crunches up well with the external overdrive.

See if you like it...

Cheers

I like to kick the '65 Twin in the bollocks with a '78 Distortion and/or an OCD. Always sounds good to me! Works well with the Bassman, too.

Add an SG with P90's, a Firebird, a Tele, or a Strat, and you have

I've pretty much forgotten all the other models once I discovered how much I liked these two.
