Hi guys! I currently own the Mustang 1 V2 and I'm looking to have a bit more control with changing channels and such and my next thought was to get the Mustang Floor. Are there any rumors with Fender releasing a V2 at Namm 2014, which starts next week?

However, $200 for the current V1 sounds really good. I was just curious, if the newer version would allow things like 2 stomp boxes on at the same time such as 1. compressor, and 2. overdrive. Currently, there's no way to do that right?

Live on Fender Mustangs! They are in my book the best sound out there. It just so happens that they are priced right too!

Haven't heard any.
If that was the plan, Fender would be keeping it very close vested.
It is in their best business interest to sell as many of the existing floor models before releasing a newer version.
You are correct in saying you can only have one instance of an effect on at one time.
And currently the Comp and the Od are on the same switch.
The only exception (and they could/should do this to all the fx's) is that the wah is in two different locations.
It is on the Stomp switch (2) and on the Mod switch (3)
They really should make all fx available on any switch. This, not including the amp modeling and reverb, shouldn't eat up too much DSP power.
Seems easily doable.

@ Mojo,

In your experience what is the best way to connect an off the shelf pedal while using the Floor? I guess the Floor has many more presets than my Mustang 1 V2? Also, is the Floor upgradable to V2 or is it stuck on V1?

Thanks!

Frank

With the way the FX loop is positioned you only have 2 ways to hook up outboard gear.
Before the Floor or after.

Reason is, there is no difference in putting the pedal right before the floor or in the loop, because the loop is the first thing in the chain on the floor... bad call in IMO.

Whether the floor is up-gradable... it won't be up-gradable to a V-2 model, that can be counted on.
As is, it can be updated to better functionality and better/more models with firmware updates.
And those will only come at Fenders own discretion or good charity.

I think that's the major complaint
I know they read these forums
Hopefully lean and inform their bosses about our requirements!
The floor works great! but updates for improvements would be amazing!

Does the Mustang Floor version 1 get any new updates like what came on the V2 such as 5 new amp models? Maybe Fender has given up on a version 2 since NAMM is here?

The reason I ask is because you can call Guitar Center and they tell me everything is the same as on the Mustang III, IV, and V. I'm not seeing that on Fenders site or on the forums unless I've missed it.

The Mustang Floor Board has not gotten any of the Mustang V2 updates. I too am waiting to see what they do with this unit. NAMM 2014 started today and not a peep out of Fender yet.

Yup. I'm always surprised (in a bad way) about Fender Mustang marketing strategies/timing.

In the meantime Boss decided to react and came with a price competitive option with some extra features compared to the floor. I have no idea how this compares tonally to the mustangs as I have never tried one.

Line6 came up with a mustang-like (or maybe g-dec like?) new amp/powered-monitor. The cool thing about it is that it is full bluetooth accessible and it includes 5 speakers for a full range monitor. I'm curious about the dsp capabilities of it.

the Boss board...
No Midi
No Xlr
No Loop
It doesn't compare in my book.

apparently the Boss unit comes with Midi over USB (more useful than the clunky old fashioned MIDI port on the floor IMO).

Regarding the fxloop, I particularly do not use it on the floor (i use the onboard effects) but in any case the fx-loop on the floor is really useless IMO (the fx-loop is between instrument input and pre-amp effects... effectively the same as putting the external stomp between guitar and Mfloor... you can achieve this with the boss unit too :).

I agree the lack of XLR could be a minus in some cases, but remediable via a cheap DI.

anyhow, I'm not a big fan of overpriced-boss so this does not interest me. I'm just fascinated with the ability of Fender to loss the competitive advantage they got with the cheap-yet-powerful MFloor. Right now would be the ideal time to come up with an upgraded version. The alternative is going to be to keep lowering price of the existing floor to make an older product competitive with the new ones from other vendors, cutting on Fender profits.

That clunky old MIDI is still a work-horse standard for most players.
It is why I bought the floor instead of the combos with the lame 3 button switching.

The MIDI boss is offering is not what most people consider as MIDI implementation in a piece of gear.

The FX loop is a disappointment in the floor for sure, but I gave them points over boss for at least trying and considering giving the option to us players.

It is also a hundred buck more than the floor

End the end tho... It's all just gear. If it works for you, then it is a good deal!
Maybe I'm just a boss hater!

I am thinking Fender is abandoning the Mustang Floor and bowing out of the highly-saturated floorboard effects processor market.

I have a suspicion, as do other posters, that FUSE is being abandoned and v.2 will be the last Mustang amp series as well.

I think modeling amp users are wanting Bluetooth connectivity to their tablets and smartphones and a software app that will work on Android and iOS.

I don't think Fender is done with the Mustang amps and amp modeling. They are making a bloody fortune from them. I also think that Fender will not get rid of Squier because they are also selling those 2 to 1 over the main Fender brand. Price point counts in the global market. Also, Fender is getting rave reviews from the Mustang Amps.

I seriously think Fender is trying to compete with Boss and the new ME-80 at the $199 price point. Head to head, I think the Floor Board holds it's own.

As for Fuse. I think there are too many people who use it to dump it. Improve it yes, dump it no...

I suspect that the Floor Board will get an update at Summer Namm 2014.

Fender HAS to fix the power supply situation on whatever new floor unit they release. If it has another of the same as the Mustang Floor, I am not even going to consider it.
