Hello, I have a Mustang III (v2) with a 2-button footswitch, and I've just ordered the 4-button FS. I'm thinking about maybe gettng the EXP-1 expression pedal also, but I have a couple of questions regarding this. I understand that the EXP-1 connects directly to the 4-button input, so does that mean that the you have to choose: either the 4-button footswitch or the EXP-1? If this is the case, it sounds weird (and pretty stupid, to be honest..) And if you actually can use both at the same time, how is this possible? And can the EXP-1 be programmed to adjust any parameter you want, and also different for each patch, let's say for instance: wah on patch 00, pitch on patch 01, delay level in patch 02, tremolo rate on patch 03 etc.? And how do you program this, can it be done directly from the amp, or do you have to use the FUSE software? (There are apparently no EXP-1 controls to be found in the Amp's menu, but maybe these will appear when you actually connect an EXP-1 pedal?)

You can use both at the same time, they daisy chain into one another. How does this work, the magic of digital electronics! You can assign the EXP pedal to any of the controls using Fuse software. If you save the setting it will be that way when you go back to it. I can't remember if you can assign the pedal with out the Fuse software, I always use Fuse.

Ok, so there is a output from the EXP pedal going into the 4-button footswitch then? And can you assign the EXP pedal to control different parameters on different patches/presets?

Yep, there's a jack on either side of the pedal. One goes to the Amp and the other goes to the MS-4. So the EXP-1 sits between the MS-4 and the amp.

Exactly. You can set the pedal to control amp Gain (for example). So you can use the heel position for a clean sound, and toe position for distorted leads. Plus you have everything in between. It's SO COOL. 8)

Plus, as stated above, you can make the pedal do different things on each preset. And when you turn the pedal off, it's a regular volume pedal by default.

The only way to change the expression pedal settings are via Fuse AFAIK. It's quick and easy to make changes there.

Hm, I'm thinking: Would it also be possible to daisy chain two EXP 1 pedals (plus a MS4 footswitch) and assign them to two different parameters simultaneosly (I guess not)?
And another thing: if used as a volume pedal, will turning the volume down with the pedal also cut the delay and reverb tails (if you understand what I mean)?

I've got the MV, I think I'm going to buy an EXP-1!!! :D

I have the Crybaby Q model, but I think I'm going to make the switch. Save myself some 9-volt batteries!!!

Definitely not.

This has come up before. I don't know if this is the final answer on the subject ...this post is from Jun 03, 2012:

Hi poynt99,

In Expression mode, you can assign the amp's channel Volume as a specific Volume control. Please take a look at the text from our engineer Ben Rathke below and let me know if you are looking for something else. In regard to the Effects loop, I am happy to pass along your request for this as a feature request. Thanks.

"When the pedal is in Volume Mode it controls the master output level. This is post delay, post everything in fact, so it cuts the delay tails and everything else as you've described. To get your desired effect, you'll need to control the volume before the delay effect. This can be accomplished by setting the pedal to Expression Mode and controlling the VOL parameter of the AMP model (and placing the delays/reverbs post amp model as you've done already). Controlling the GAIN parameter in this manner can be fun too."

Honestly, since I've had the pedal, I've only used it for a Wah and to control the Amp Gain, so I'm not sure.

OK got a chance to try it out, looks like this was fixed. When I put on a ton of delay and reverb, play a chord, and then turn the volume off with the pedal, the reverb and delay are not cut off.
