When you set up a pedal string or a rack string on a Mustang or a Floor ...you can only have one modulator at a time.....IE Phaser or Flanger or Chorus.....has any one hooked up an external modulator while using one of the internal modulators?

I use a Zoom G3 with my floor pretty often.
I put it in the loop sometimes when I want to use it for phasing or vibe, or have several fx running at once that I can kill all with bypassing the loop... pretty handy.
I have put it after the floor and used it for chorus and reverbs.

Yes my friend
I use a digitech rp90 (my old pedalboard) either for or additional chorus, flanger!
Even use most of all by the acoustic guitar simulator Digitech sounds very real and cost me a lot of effort in programming and I could not replicate the mustang!
The connect by loop effects of mustang
The result is better for the floor loop, not for the loop of my amp Peavey. Apart you have the option to disable button insert in case of your additional effect has no Bypass
I'm doing tests with amplitube 3 on my Mac with a Lexicom Interface also connected by interface effects loop!

Sure. I use pedals with my Mustang III all the time. I usually have an always on chorus pedal in the loop. My go to presets both just have reverb active, but the '65 twin does have vintage trem that defaults to off. If I turn it on, there are no issues between it and the chorus.

Likewise if I switch to a preset with an active chorus, flanger or phaser.

I also run a flanger or a phaser in the loop, and stack them with the chorus. Again no issues.

You'll be fine, adding a multi effect pedal or stomp box, and using it with the onboard fx.

Thanks guy's .... Your comments are very helpful .....I could see where I would want to use extra effects in the loop....This pedal is a blessing but I would like to have some more options and I guess this is the way to do it.

Yesterday I went to a friend's house and I tried several both analog and digital effects that has. And the compatibility was 100%.
Good thing is left complemented with other pedals!

Ok here is an additional question......Let's say yo have a Phaser or a Flanger stomper and you use it with a Phaser or Flanger on the board at the same time.......Would there be any (OUT OF PHASE) Issues?.....IE Feedback? or anything?.....the cycles working against each other?.......is this the reason Fender only allows one modulator at a time?........Sorry I guess that was two questions

Hmm, I've never thought to try that... Sounds like it might be TOO much flangey goodness for my taste. Then again, it could make for a unique and fun new sound, or even open a rift in the space-time continuum...

As for your second question, I always assumed that the limitations were there simply because they wanted to keep the amps affordable and user friendly. With all that it can do now, I shudder to think how complicated or fiddly it would be if it had every possible option, and every possible combo. Also, I believe that the four fx "slots" are located in different parts of the signal path.

I mean every product has limitations of some form, right? My v1 Mustang III cost appx $350 new. For that, you get:

100 watts
A Celestion G12T-100 speaker
12 different GOOD amp models, with the ability to tweak and change all sorts of things- even the modelled cab and speakers.
A higher end Multi-fx pedal's worth of nice fx. Each of which is fully tweakable as well.
a 2 button footswitch- with a second set of jacks for adding an additional 4 button one.
A very good tuner
100 user editable presets
Three free software programs For online sharing of presets, further tweaking, and recording.
free soft and firmware upgrades
effects loop.
an LCD screen and pretty logical controls that allow you to tweak all those goodies right on the amp.
tap tempo, and
a full control panel.

AND it actually sounds great to boot. If they left a few popular options and combos out, I can live with that. That's what real stomp boxes are for, right? To me, it's a steal for the price.

I agree ....I have the mustang floor $250 at the time .....It is awesome!....and more effects than I will use in my lifetime.....I was just curious but the only real way to find out is to hook one up and go for it and see what happens!

Stack up the pedals as much as you want, it might sound hideous though

Understand what flanger and phaser do - they can't possibly damage anything
You'll never get them running at the same rate anyway

If everything is on 12 - volume/ gain /master volume/ flange levels.. the speaker might suffer, but that's no different from any other overload and your ears will tell you long before it explodes.

Jimi was never worried about trying out new gizmos

Here is why I asked the question.......I play in a weekend band and we have approx 200 songs we cover......mostly country and some classic rock.....I love my phase shifter but sometimes I would like a chorus or a flanger with the same set up.......the way the Floor is designed .....you can only have one modulator at a time.....so if I want to switch modulators during a song....I would have to set up another preset and switch presets while i am playing.....with stompers.....I could just tap the phaser off....tap the flanger on....etc.......so with the floor .....I guess if I want that convenience .....I have to add stompers to the loop in the pedal or set up identical patches each with a different modulator.
