Does anyone use a full pedal board with their Mustang amp? I know it has all kinds of great effects, but sometimes you just look for a different sound... know what I mean?

My pedal board includes insert effects, effects through the effects loop, and an AB switch that lets me loop in the Fishman TriplePlay wireless MIDI.

I can post pictures if anyone is curious.

+1 love to see some pics. I use a Boss BCB-30 to add 3 stomp boxes at a time.

I keep rotating them, it keeps things fresh.

Other than that, at this point I have all the available integrated pedals for my MIII, the 2-button, 4-button, and EXP-1 expression pedal. The options are nearly overwhelming! :D

Warning... this is overkill

Image

From Right to Left -

Insert Loop
Sony DWZ-B30GB wireless, which connects to the
Rocktron Utopia Volume pedal (used because it does not require external power)
ModTone Lemon Squeeze compressor (used because it preserves the natural string attack)
TC Electronic MOJOMOJO overdrive
Zoom MultiStomp (used as a single effect. Either as additional overdrives, distortions, chorus, trem, leslie or delay)

Effects loop
ElectroHarmonix Switchblade - switches between the Fishman TriplePlay Midi Guitar signal or Effects Send
Korg Pandora Stomp (slow attack to even out the MIDI, tape delay for lead tones, or boost for some additional sparkle - also used to provide rhythm tracks for practice)
Ditto Looper sent to effects return

2 button pedal
Tap tempo
Reverb on/off

4 button pedal
Multitap delay (for volume swells when the chorus is on)
Touch wah (used with the volume pedal to simulate a wah pedal)
Overdrive (used almost as a clean boost and to add grit to smooth out the distortion)
Tuner

Amp Model
65 Deluxe Reverb

The optional EXP-1 might work out well for you in the future, it can be programmed as a real wah, and when it's not engaged as an expression pedal, it's a volume pedal by default.

True, but doesn't that mean I can't use the 4 button pedal?

you can use both. The EXP-1 has 2 jacks, one goes to the amp, and the other goes to the MS-4. So the EXP-1 sits between the MS-4 and the amp. 8)

Interesting.. I'll keep that in mind. I have been thinking about adding a used Boss V-Wah because I like the ability to model, but I don't use a wah enough to justify the cost... yet.

I will keep that in mind!

Guitar players don't know the meaning of the word overkill!
We would cart and hook up every pedal we own just to play a one song acoustic gig because we think other guitar players may be there!!!!
This is the correct forum for excess!!!
But seriously... that is a kewl board and it looks very versatile.
I dig the Zoom Multi Stomp! I have the G3... It has some great delays and vibes in it!

Please do because adding that to what you already have with all of your outboard gear along with your Stang, you are gonna solve world peace, global warming, or just something really really big. Thanks in advance and may the force be with you. Sorry, I think that last reference might be jedi2b's line :)

I traded in my smaller pedal board and an old compressor and added the BBE Sonic Stomp pedal... it makes a BIG difference. The Mustang really seams alive.

I think I'm DONE!

Very nice. Don't kid yourself that you're done though - just wait a bit till that GAS kicks in again

You're right. I rarely used the volume pedal, so I swapped it out with another Lovepedal distortion - the SuperLead!

It's nice to go distortion-OD-distortion.

The SuperLead has a great lead tone.
I use the sovereign for a light crunch.
This allows me to crank the overdrive.

The stomp on the Mustang III is now a boost for my lead tone.

Much better!
