Please tell me I'm imagining this...

I was under the impression there were no changes to the V2 Mustangs, only newly added amplifier models and effects. For some reason, I feel like I am having a different experience with my new Mustang V V2 head.

I am using the same cabinet, guitar, cables, etc. My general sonic impression of the Mustang head before (darker, warmer, brooding perhaps?) is now replaced by a cooler, harder sounding experience!? I love the new amp models - in fact I think I like the newer high-gain amps as well. But the overall sonic signature of the amp sounds bright and does not feel as round as my V1 head. I wish I had not sold it to fund the V2, otherwise I could have done a comparison.

There are things I do not miss about the V1, it was a bit lower-fidelity sounding and a bit noisy with the digital hiss. Never bothered me at all with a bit of reverb though. Perhaps that was the V1's mojo?

I wonder if it's a imaginary effect I am feeling?

try to tweak the BIAS of every amp model, chances are you are going to get back the V1 vibe :)

Thanks jedi2b,

I do use those settings regularly - in fact, when I am not happy with the sound of an amp, the sag/bias controls are my go-to edit (along with the cab models). I actually feel that the sag/bias on the V2 feels a bit different too. My impressions thus far are that the newer sag/biasing does not appear to have as much effect on the amps as the V1 did. I will have to do more experimenting on this matter.

I wish I still had the V1 to do proper comparisons! Basically I am curious if any readers have had the same two amplifiers (v1 and V2) and done any comparisons?
