Just got a new Mustang 1v.2 and looked forward to practicing tonight. In preparation I plugged in my Koss headphones and started wailing away before my 5 year old informed me that my amp was still cranking. Sure enough, I removed my headphones and the amp was just as loud as before I plugged in my phones.

I tried three headphones total and still got the same result. I could hear feed through my headphones and the amp. Am I missing something?

The headphone socket in the amp has a physical switch inside it that disconnects the internal power amp (and speaker) when a headphones plug is inserted. It could be that this switch is broken on your amp. Does the socket feel loose when you insert your headphones plug? If you wiggle the plug about a bit, does that cause the speaker sound to cut out (but not stay cut-out when you let go of the plug)? If this is the problem, and it's a brand-new amp, then returning it to the store for exchange is your best option.

It doesn't feel particularly loose, however, I gave that a go to test the theory. In wiggling it about some with my headphones in, it does cut the feed to my headphones intermittently. Still no impact to the muting of the internal speaker itself.

Unless there are any other things I can try, I need to figure out where my wife purchased the amp on amazon and visit the returns policy.

The 1/8" jacks on the Mustangs are cheap garbage. It's a shame because a small investment at the manufacturing level would have transformed the Mustang's usability and durability significantly. My headphone jack feels like it has sand in there not to mention how sloppy the grip is on the plug.

I like the product enough that I didn't return it but if it wasn't for the 5-year warranty, it would have gone back.
