Yeah Kreature .. I have to agree with you there.
Got two teenagers and while they are doing fine at school, the time on FB and constant messaging is a nightmare.. and then as a parent try and limit that time and it's like a declaration of war. I guess we need to wait 20 years and see how it pans out... till then you just gotta pick up your guitar and play..

Hello,

I know this has been touched on a bit regarding high output pups with the mustang amps but wondering if anyone here is using overwound style pups and can offer feedback (no pun intended) on the performance. Mrs. C got me a Seymour Duncan SSL5 for Christmas and can't wait to hear it. Anyone here using this pup or Texas Specials or other comparable output pups?

thanks.

Getting back to the OP's topic...

I've used hot PICKUPS in the past: DiMarzio SDS-1 or Seymour Duncan SSL-3 (DC resistance over 16k!) in the bridge position, both very overwound. They were no problem for the Mustang to handle. I just didn't like their sound...through a Mustang, a Vox, Marshall, whatever. Some do...

I eventually replaced them with a SD SSL-6T, with a little better treble response overall and a coil tap to get back to a more natural Stratty sound when I wanted it.

As for the Mustang's input, I often use a TS-808 or other preamp devices with excellent results...you can push the input pretty hard as long as the overall signal level is 'reasonable'...and you will know it when it becomes unreasonable...just back off a bit and you will be fine.

Cheers.

PICKUP installed.

no issues whatsoever. Vast improvement to the CS69... sorry... Custom Shop 69 in terms of smooth sustain and less icepick. Sings like a song.

I highly recommend. Excellent upgrade for very little money. Balances very well with the Custom Shop 69s in the Neck and Middle.

these guys call pickups pups, like a two syllable word needs to be abreviated

You're not alone, I hate that. And it's so widely used on the other guitar manufacturer's forum.
