The footswitch buttons don't do anything until you press them. So yes, they're automatically "off" (ie not doing anything) by default.

Even if the footswitch is in quick-access mode, you can select and use any preset on the amp, by turning the data wheel. Only if you then press one of the footswitch buttons will the amp jump to the corresponding qa preset.

I would just add that if used in conjunction with the 2-button controller, the user could select QA presets with the 4-button controller, and also scroll the rest of the presets with the 2 button controller. Thus no need to take your hands of your strings.

Please use some punctuation so we can understand what in the world you are trying to say.

I think you're saying you want to have your "basic sound" (one preset) then three further "quick access" presets for additional sounds. So four presets in total, with the ability to return quickly/easily to the basic sound.

You can't do it quite like that; you can only have 'single press' access to three presets in total, not four. So you could make your basic sound be QA1, and have two further sounds on QA2 and QA3. Don't think of the QAs as 'turning on QA mode' - all the buttons are doing is just selecting a particular preset. There's nothing to 'turn off' to go back to a previous preset - once the preset is selected, that's it.

I and others have posted copious suggestions on the forum of how to get (reasonably) quick access to many more than three presets, using two or three button-presses, particularly if you have the 4- and 2-button footswitches. So I won't repeat all the details.

Suffice to say it's reasonably obvious how to switch between 9 presets with two presses, and 14 presets with three presses. And 30 presets with four presses, if you really need that.

Edited for clarity:

OK how about this ....

Put your main amp sound in the first preset slot, and assign it as QA01. (when you power the amp, it will default to this preset now).

Put your 2 other main presets in high numbered preset slots, like 50 and 51 for example. Assign those as QA02 and QA03.

NOW, when you want to use a preset other than the 3 QA you've assigned, press QA01 on the 4 button pedal and then use the 2 button pedal to scroll up to the additional presets. Put your additional presets starting in slot 2 and go up from there.

See what I mean? It doesn't exactly do what you describe, but makes it pretty easy to select additional presets.
