My favorites are the Fender Twin, Deluxe, Princeton and the British 80s Marshall. I can get all kinds of spank out of these models using a creative use of EQ along with the on board effects and my outboard effects pedals.

I also find fiddling with the parameters in FUSE effortless but i have a lot of experience with computers, software and audio production so i understand that many might feel intimidated.

There is a gentleman that frequented this forum who has Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and I can truly empathize with him because of just how tweak-able these Mustangs can be and they are definitely not one trick ponies.

I only use the 59' Bassman- BUT- (in FUSE) I changed the speaker cabinet to SS112 'cause I don't like the default BSSMN cabinet- yuk.
I run a BBE Opto Stomp compressor between my guitar and Amp,
and I put the GREENBOX (FUSE) on a very slight setting.

I occasionally use the British 70' Marshall which I also changed the default speaker cabinet to the SS112.

Does anyone know what the SS112 (and SS212) stand for?

I know the 112 and 212 refer to one or two 12" speakers, but what's the SS for?

Is it an open back or closed back cabinet?

I love the Bassman Model with the 2x12C cab. Not sure if i've tried the SS Cabs with either the Bassman or the Marshall but I'll have to give it a whirl.

Using the expression pedal to control the gain.

I've tried this after reading your post - it was mentioned here a few times before but I never tried it. This works so well! It sounds like Steve Vai did something similar in this song (controlling Gain with an expression pedal). Check out the smooth transition at 3:44.

I am going to buy a III at the end of the month.

I think I will continue to use my pedalboard and setup the amp models with a little reverb on each. I hope to start off with the first patch as bone clean and move up in gain with the following presets. Though I would probably be happy with just a great clean tone and the use of my pedalboard.

I like the fact that you have XLR outputs and that you can keep the amp low and it still sounds good. I play in a Praise band and ideally we would have no stage volume at all running direct. We use in ear monitors, with little personal monitor mixers. All I need to do is get the tone I need at either low or no volume and I get it all in ear. I am hoping that the III will be the amp that works best in this situation. I am a stalwart tube amp guy, but I can't turn up a tube amp loud enough to sound good without pissing off the sound man. We have great mains and the mix is nicely done, so my goal is to use the III silently and just use some of the presets as base tones.

Any idea how to turn off the speaker while using this amp?

TJ

just turn down the master volume knob, the xlr outs are unaffected by this.
alternatively pick the signal at the fx-send if you need unbalanced output.

Well...

I posted all of this and then started getting errors and figured out that I guess my message body is too big!

So, I spent the last hour typing in all my presets and can't post them because it's too much info lol.

Mod's, I apologize for the several posts. I went back to just delete them all and was unable to so now its a bit messy.

Long story short, I mostly use the Fender '65 and Twin for clean/slightly OD stuff and the M2K for more of a Marshall/G'N'R tone.

I now use my the 57 Champ with the princeton Cab and Fuzz for my smelly tweed sound and the 65 twin for my clean to which I can add drive and Distortion via my two external pedals.

Have you tried the other way round?
Princeton amp and Champ cab (gain up high.. and a bit of vibratone) - that's my fave for a warm buzzy crunch.

My go to amp model was the Fender Twin along with my pedals and then it branched out to the Deluxe, Princeton, and the two Marshalls. Lately I have discovered the Boogie and the 5150 and have been very busy tuning down my guitar a half step and trying to sound like all things Van Halen.

Like I said before my wife doesn't recognize me anymore and thinks I have anorexia when it is simply a bad case of Stangitus.
