I always found myself going back to the Princeton with a bit of vibratone for those great cleans.
I just discovered the Princeton also does a great dirty if you change the cab.
Gain on 10, cab to champ or 65 deluxe : awesome - and cleans up nicely.

Both the "Simple Comp (Dyna-Comp)" set to HIGH or MAX level or the "Compressor" opened up to around 8.5 work nicely for this. Puts you up over the mix and adds some "Cream" to the signal.

Oh, if you using Simple Comp it always work as a compressor, limiting high signal and boosting low signal. But if you use Compressor, and set Threshold, Attack & Release to maximum (100%), and set ratio to minimum (2.0:1), this Compressor act as a booster without limiting high signal. At Level 50% you will have your signal level doubled (2x normal signal). This is useful, you can try this.

if you do this to princeton, it would give you some crazy fuzzy tone, like an amp and speaker gonna blow up.

Someone earlier mentioned the Metal 2k is similar to the 5150. I gotta tell you, that is bang on. I sold my 5150 2x12 combo amp to buy my Mustang III. I loved the 5150 of course, but I did not love how much it weighed or how loud it hissed. Metal 2k with the addition of some OD in your stomp box, and a bit of chorus, bass up is a dead ringer. I swear I hardly notice the difference, other than lack of hiss. I even renaimed the preset to 5150.

It is my go to, plus the Bright and Clean. Love this amp!

Just got my four button switch last night, going to have some fun setting it all up!

I'm going to have to add the twin reverb to my list of go to amp models.

So much so that it's now my 01 preset! I re-amped the Country Deluxe preset to twin reverb, cranked the reverb to 7, and added the vintage tremolo ( turned off).

What a killer clean sound! There's just something about this amp model that sounds so right. You all were spot on with this!

Here's the interesting part. Like the actual amp, the twin reverb model has obnoxious amounts of headroom. I turned on my '78 Distortion pedal in front of the amp- with the dist knob turned more than halfway up and the crunch switch engaged- it was STILL clean!
Chimey as all get out, but still clean. With the master volume at 2-3, it was almost too loud. ( the level knob on the pedal is set somewhat above unity as well)

This works really well. I actually prefer using the Comp as a booster better than the Ranger Boost you just don’t get the gain knob but it still works great for a clean boost. It’d be cool if a possible future upgrade included another variation of a booster… Colorsound perhaps?

Does this work for V1.0 or is this a V2.0 thing?

You should be fine on V.1. I believe that has both compressors as well.

The compressor as a clean boost works well! Thanks for the recommendation with the settings.

This will prob sound silly but... I'm more akin to using a Dyna Comp... basically a plug and play type of pedal... The compressor is more technical.. Still wrapping my mind around the parameters a bit more...
One thing is that I do like a slight "squeeze" on the highs when it's engaged as a boost. Not sure exactly which control (Ratio?...) handles that with the compressor and basically achieve the same boosting result.

Another thing... High gain models (Super Sonic, Metal 2000 etc...) don't seem to take the compressor the same way... need to really jack the level to get a boosting result... and it seems marginal at best although it does "Beef Up" the sound some... I must be missing something there in regards to how the higher gain is affected by the compressor.
Any suggestions there would be awesome. Thanks

Ratio is how much it squashes (Higher the ratio the more it squashes), threshold is the level you have to hit before it squashes, attack is how fast it squashes when the threshold is hit, and release is how soon it lets go.

in a nutshell

So in essence, if you have a very low ration (2:1) you aren’t compressing very much at all and can use the level to give your signal a “Boost”. As for the second part, try putting the compressor Post Gain. Might do what you want.

:D

Alright, have been having fun refining these settings. Have achieved decent results using the Compressor as a BOOST for High Gain amp models. I didn't put them after the amp... kept them in front.
The two presets I tweaked are the "Super Sonic" and the "Metal 2000 (5150)".
I'll post the amp settings and comp settings so anyone else who wants to have a "Boost" for leads and general High Gain antics can give these a try.
I used my AVRI '62 Strat w/ custom "Texas Special" styled hand wounds and these settings kick serious happiness in all 5 positions.

Super Sonic
Amp Menu 1:
Gain- 4.8
Vol- 5.0
Treb- 3.1
Mid- 9.9
Bass- 9.9
Rev 1.6 (Large Hall)
Amp Menu 2:
Sag- Match
Bias- 0%
Gate- High
Cab- 4x12M
Gain 2- 8.2
Mstr V- 8.4
Compressor:
Level- 10.0
Thrsh- 10.0
Ratio- 2.01
Atk- 10.0
Rel- 10.0

Metal 2000 (5150 Head):
Amp Menu 1:
Gain- 5.5
Vol- 4.1
Treb- 9.4
Mid- 9.8
Bass- 9.8
Reverb- 1.0 (Large Hall)
Amp Menu 2
Sag- Less
Bias- 0%
Gate- High
Cab- 4x12M
Mastr V- 8.4
Presence- 6.4
Compressor:
Level 10.0
Thrsh- 9.5
Ratio- 3.11
Atk- 9.5
Rel- 9.5

K... Enjoy! ;)

Lead - American 90's with 4x12V

Rhythm - either Metal 2000 with 4x12M or turning the cab sim off
or Super Sonic with 4x12M

Clean - 65Twin with 65Twin cab

I always keep coming back to the Princeton.
Using the expression pedal to control the gain.
It just seems to work in almost all (my) situations.

Yup… I’ve pretty much settled on using the Princeton and Deluxe. Using the Mustang II, I only get two presets with the footswitch so have my Princeton Preset on one Footswitch position

https://fuse.fender.com/mustangv2/prese ... 80s-clean/

or sometimes replace with this deluxe depending on my mood

https://fuse.fender.com/mustangv2/prese ... and-clean/

on my second footswitch position I have this for my Bluesy Shine On tone

https://fuse.fender.com/mustangv2/prese ... -2nd-solo/

Those are pretty much my three go to presets… started to get weary of Fuse so until I upgrade to a Mustang III or IV I’m content with just a couple presets and a couple pedals. The Princeton/Deluxe models take pedals extremely well so when i want to add more dirt, i have an external OD, and then hit that with my RAT for the lead tones.
