Can you explain a bit more what you mean by "volume boost" and what you want to achieve?

At a hardware level, the Mustang V has a 150w power amp (or rather 2x75w channels), and a 'master volume' control for that. You can't 'boost' that any higher.

However, and this may be what you mean, the (DSP) modelled amps inside the Mustang replicate most/all of the controls on the original amps, including gain/boost if the original amp had those. Such controls are used more to shape the sound/tone rather than simply for volume, and work very effectively. Depending on the amp model, you can use these controls to overdrive the (simulated) valve pre-amp and power-amp stages of the modelled amps, the same way you would on the real amps. Is that what you mean?

I'm kinda new to this. I've used a Fender deluxe on the 2 button pedal has a gain boost for more volume for soloing. I was just wondering if the Mustang could or had the same ability. I'm playing a show soon with my Mustang and just wanted a little more for my solos.

Yes you can do this. You could create two presets, one at 'normal' level and one with the 'boosted' level you want. Then use the footswitch to change from one to the other (and back again) while playing. You'll want the (four-button) footswitch in mode 1 (quick-access presets) or mode 2 (up/down presets) for this.

Or, if you can get the desired boost by (for example) using an overdrive effect in your preset, then you could use the footswitch in mode 3 to turn the overdrive effect on and off within just the one preset.

There are lots more permutations, the above are just some simple ideas to get you going. If your next question is going to be "how do I create/edit presets and effects?" then before asking, you should probably read the owners manual for your amp (both quick-start and advanced manuals), all the Fender support pages that talk about this, and the countless existing topics about it already on this forum. That will give you a wealth of useful information.

You might consider adding the Mustang EXP-1 expression pedal to your 4-button footswitch. The expression pedal can be used as a volume pedal.

Hi jwj3647,

Thanks for your posts here. It looks like you have gotten some excellent assistance from "scott-uk" and others. If we can offer any assistance from our end as you continue to use your new amp, please feel free to let us know.

Best Regards,
