The MIII v2 is awesome. All of the sounds in the universe are contained in that box. It is nothing less than astonishing.

It even talks! Mustang told me: "Before sound was, I am."

Before sound was, Mustang is. It has all the sounds.

Now I just gotta get more of those sounds into my fingers.

Her Wanna out.

P.S. In all seriousness, IMO the new models and stomp effects are awesome. If anyone is on the fence, IMO it is worth it to upgrade to a v2 even if you like your v1, or buy a v2 if it's your first Mustang and you are considering getting the now-discounted v1. Not being presumptuous about anyone's money situation, but anyone who can afford to do it should do that, IMO. As I feared, I don't see myself using the v1 much anymore and I'm trying to figure out where to put it in my home. The new "green box" stomp and orange amp models alone--in addition to many other features--make the v2 more fun. They sound killer, IMO. And I have not even had any speaker break in -- already sounds awesome to my ears. M3v2 is a beast of an amp for the price of 2 or 3 decent pedals or a cell phone. It is amazing to me that so much amp can be had for so few dollars (don't read that part and raise the prices, Fender). I got mine for $290, no tax, free shipping. Packed very well--no way it could be damaged in shipping, and it wasn't. That's the price of about 3 moderately decent dinners with a date or less than 3 clock radios.

Hi Her Wanna (by the way.. what is your true name? :) )

You got that right !
although in another post, I appeared to be critical or rather I appeared dissatisfied (for the lack of any additional updates) ,
I actually found that the version 2 of the Mustang ( I too have the M3v2 whereas in the past I had the M3v1 ) is a remarkable quantum leap ... it sounds a lot better , even more realistic and defined than before, the sound palette has greatly increased thanks to both new amp models and new models of distortion .. which allow to cover a broad range of styles and types of distortion or clean sounds .

several changes have been made in the management of the parameters ..
just one example: in the pitch shifter , the range of pitch has become +24 / -24 semitones in steps of 0.2 semitones .. while in version 1 the range was from 1.0 to 10 .. as other generic parameters. And with the level 10 now only the sound shifted out and the regular pitch of the guitar is muted completely.

My friend and guitar teacher some time ago has finally admitted that this amp has the feeling of the real things. And that probably will buy an M3 V2 too.

While he had previously snubbed simulations for example of my old Roland VG88 (when I had it yet) .. and frankly I also was tired of that kind of old generation simulations .. you have to work a lot more over to get something quite satisfactory from the amp models of that kind and they hardly sounds realistic.

With the technology used in the Mustang is all extremely simpler and more immediate to obtain a certain type of tone.

My criticism of the lack of updates, it was also a way of saying that if Fender would begin to release some updates (included with some new effect, or improved function) every now and then, it would become even more unrivaled in this price range and this type of digital products, and probably up to three times as much as you said.

Congrats on the new amp.

I have no point of reference since when I decided to pull the trigger on the Mustang, the V.2 had just come out so went right for that. But indeed the Greenbox (Tubescreamer) is awesome. I A/B’d that with a TS clone and it couldn’t find a difference so didn’t keep it since there was nothing to be gained. I’m loving the TS with the Vox now. The BlackBox (Rat) is a lot of fun too. Those are my two favorite stomps for sure. I still really hope and wish that Fender would separate compressor from the stomps so you can have both. Lately I’ve been adding a post gain compressor to some of my preamps so without my external stomps, I’d be out of luck so would love to have the option for the Greenbox for some of my presets that have a Post Gain comp added.

I got my Mustang V1 and 3 weeks later the V2 was issued. I felt cheated because I had not heard about the V2 coming so soon, I received my amp as a birthday gift and it was an online order from MF musiciansfriend.com . So I didn't have the option of easily returning it and getting the V2. I missed out by 3 weeks, Looks like I am stuck with the V1.

Well, don't be too bummed, the v1 MIII is still a cracking good amp! That's what I have, and I love the sounds I can get out of it.

Just today, I was playing my Tele through my "My Bassman" setting. Had a big grin on my face the entire time! I've had this for over a year, now- and I'm still surprised at the bass it'll put out. With the master on 2.5, I got a bit overenthusiastic with the low E string, and was nearly flapping my pantlegs.

I am somewhat bummed not to have the extra stomps, especially the greenbox and blackbox. However, I do have some nice dirt pedals of my own, and they work great with this amp. Current favorites: Fulltone OCD ( high peak mode) volume at unity, gain at just past noon, tone between noon and 2 o'clock. I run this into an MXR '78 Distortion. Also at unity, gain around 4 or 5 o'clock tone at noon, and the crunch switch on. With both pedals on, it puts me in rawk god territory, tonewise. The tone is so dynamic, the guitar feels alive!

I like this, as it gives me 4 different flavors of tone. I'm also running a Micro Flanger, and a TC Corona Chorus in the loop. That Flanger adds a lot! I love how, the more dirt you use, the more it jumps out at you. Only 2 knobs- speed and regen- makes it very easy to use.

For those grumbling about not being able to use both comp AND dirt, I suggest you simply break down and buy a comp and/or a good dirt pedal. You can still run the comp post-gain, just put it in the loop. IMO, the downside to amp based fx, is that you'll never get EVERY possible combo on the amp, without it getting obnoxiously complicated- especially at this price level. That, and you're stuck with the fx and flavors someone else chose.

I do like that Fender gave us a choice of a one knob comp ( for the compressor stupid- like myself), and a more flexible one.

I like the amp just fine, although the additional stomps would have been nice, and a couple of the new amp models would have been nice as well,. but it is what it is

Right! I was drooling over the HiWatt and Silvertone models. Just couldn't be bothered to drop another $350 on a second MIII... Like you, it wasn't too long after I got mine that the v2 was announced.

I'm still barely scratching the surface of what this thing can do.

lol but in all seriousness the cheapest clock radio that lets one plug in an iPod is $99. you know all those crappy products (terrible sound quality) but I finally got one because it is cool to wake up to your music. There are like 43 different competing products and they are all $99.

$100 dinner is not super cheap bro

lol

unfortunately I have gone on many $2,000 dates and that turned out to be a wasted investment... long story
