Mustang is killing my OCD. Too many options for great sounds and tone. What an amazing thing this is for the price.

Thanks. LOL. What I did yesterday evening (early evening--not too late) was annoy my neighbors a bit because I just had to turn it up a tiny bit to hear some shimmering cleans and vibratone effects. So I turned it up to about 5.5 on preset and perhaps 4 on master (nowhere near close to even half way towards max). So much therapy for my ears. What I did is I capo'ed the 2nd fret on my Amer Stand Strat and played some open chord stuff like Am, G, Am, C, F -- it was good therapy for my ears.

What had happened is I had visitors staying with me from last Wed. through Mon. morning and they are normal people who watch TV...so I could not turn it up at all during that time. So I had to get it out.

(My only negative on the M4, which is also a positive re: the speakers on the M4, is that speakers or "mode" of use matter, not just the model....so there is a noticeable compression when playing through headphones such that I won't do it anymore, and I have very good expensive headphones too. In other words, it is very compressed through the headphone jack such that I think it teaches bad habits to play using headphones, at least for my style, because it's so nonresponsive to pick attack it makes me bang away on every note trying to hear it.....whereas the 2X12 playing through air are super duper responsive IMO.) There is a noticeable change in what the models can do through the headphone jack, in other words. Using the headphones, I have to turn it up to like 7 or 8 on preset and master volume...would not get close to that playing through air. The headphone output is literally half as powerful. Again, I am using VERY good Bowers & Wilkins headphones that sound great even with an mp3 player.

But whatever....real tube amp doesn't have headphone output at all and I didn't buy it for that so I'm not complaining.

I have the same problem, Her Wanna, I love the Mustang sounds (I've been a proud owner of Mustang IV v1 for about 2 and a half years or so) and the way it produces them while using it's own speakers, but trying to play through headphones during the night simply turns me off from playing it, sadly. Even worse is that I mostly only have time to practice at night (although I have slowly started to get accustomed to playing straight after I get up from bed and after lunch). I tested several different headphones and, while they produce different sounds, all the crounchy, overdriven and distorted sounds suck on them. At least the sounds I normally use.

What I did is that I made 3 different presets to use while I play with headphones. It gets you better results as you can hone them in, but it is still not as good as those sounds coming through amp's speakers ;) I haven't tried out how these presets sound through amp's speakers yet though.
Luckily I told my folks not to buy me any HQ headphones (as they knew I was frustrated with the sounds coming from the headphones) as my 20th birthday gift (seeing how it's not the headphones that are the reason for a bad sound, but rather the M's headphones jack or something in the DSP).. I am much happier with the EXP-1 and enough strings to put me through a year and some other guitar-related accessories than some headphones which would increase my frustration even further probably :P

Fun with vibratone:

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D

I have decided to become the world's #1 promoter of the Fender Mustang vibratone effect. That thing (not my clumsy playing) is freaking beautiful IMO. I shall proclaim the beauty of the vibratone Mustang effect far and wide, everywhere I go. Everything I see, the vibratone shall be with me.

I will also conduct lessons. Lesson # 1: You know that any guitar effect called "vibratone" has to be good, just from the name.

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D

More vibratone fun:
