I asked this in another forum, but let me ask here.. So I plugged into a mustang 3 v2 yesterday, and I was amazed at how nice the liquid 100 solo preset sounded. I had tried v1 (only in stores long ago ) and liked it, but thigh gain leads seemed to be noises and fizzy...

Anyway, is it me, or did the v2 improve on the sound engine ?

I was not there to try out amps, just testing my repaired guitar, and happen to plug into the stang ... But I was really impressed. It was fairly low levels though.

Anyone have v1 and now have v2 ???? Thoughts ???

The V2 amps don't, as far as I know, fundamentally change the "sound engine" if you're referring to the DSP stuff. Some new effects and amp models were introduced, but those that are the same in both V1 and V2 amps should sound the same - in DSP terms.

However, there are some hardware differences between the V1 and V2 amps, particularly in reducing noise in the power amp section. Some people find this a big improvement, others never had a problem with the V1 amps so don't notice much change. Maybe this is the difference you can hear?

One thing to remember is that in the store, someone could have changed the presets. Unless it was set to factory defaults right in front of you, I would not trust the comparison.

That being said, I'm a previous owner and user of several MIII v1 amps. I now own a V2 and can say without a doubt that it is much improved and worth the little bit of extra money over the v1.

Good point ! But the fact that it sounded that good to my ears, even if tweaked, means I can get there as well  thanks for your input on v1 vs v2 as well
