Hi,

today I bought my Mustang II v.2 and the sound was great. Then I connected it to Fender Fuse Software and followed the firmware update without thinking that this would ruin my mood. Now after updating (bundled update) I hear a very annoying fizzing noise. I tried to install older firmware but I can only find firmware version 2.0 and 2.1

http://www.fender.com/support/articles/ ... mplifiers/

Can anyone provide older firmware versions or any solution?

thanks!

Hi,
the first firmware for version 2 is 2.0 , it is the firmware that comes from factory..
perhaps something in update procedure went wrong. Have you try to do again the update procedure?

What firmware does your amp currently have, after the update? What did it have before the update?

Extending frondizi's comment, there are only two firmware versions for the V2 amps, 2.0 and 2.1 (the 1.x firmware is for the V1 amps). No-one else has reported any audio problems with either firmware version. As far as I know, the main difference between the two firmware versions is non-audio features, eg settable fx-loop position and EXP-1 control.

Whichever firmware version you now have, first try re-installing that, then try installing the other one, and see if either of those steps cures the problem. If it doesn't, then firmware isn't the issue, something else is causing the undesirable noise.

Hi,

I don't know which firmware was installed initially, actually the firmware version was nowhere displayed in the Fuse Software.

I already installed firmware version 2.0 and 2.1 but the noise is still there. The firmware update always succeded (the green light was turned on after update).

I know for sure that the noise appeared right after the firmware update which was suggested automatically by the Fuse Software.

I found many links concerning exactly my problem and there seems no solution right now from Fender. When the problems is existing for around 2 years I ask myself why the Fuse software still recommends firmware updates without any warning. Computer users are always used to install latest updates. Right now I only can recommend not to install the firmware update!

This is really annoying because the noise goes up even when you play loud. I will change the amp to a new one. I really was happy with it before the firmware update.

Hi Scaram,
is that kind of fizz the old problem as in some amp Version1 , i mean it occurs in clean tones?
or you're experiencing it in saturated to overdriven tones?

Just to say.. a common problem/limitation that on the opinion of most users (including me) is still not solved is the modulation/buzzing/ phaser-like sound and/or volume oscillating : the kind of phenomenon depends on how much you push an amp model towards a threshold or roof (and over) with internal or external od/distortion effect.

But if you are experiencing that noise in both clean and overdriven tones is another kind of problem.. you need the Fender technical support line for further investigation in that problem... or replace the amp as you said.

Hi Dimitri

the problem appears in Clean sounds. About the distortion sounds I am not sure right now.

The noise is like you describe: modulation/buzzing/ phaser-like sound and/or volume oscillating.

I'm not sure I've found any references to a firmware upgrade introducing an audio problem.

Both the links you quote are actually referring to the hardware issue in the V1 amps that is changed in the V2 amp, that I mentioned above. That's nothing to do with firmware, even though that's what many people mistakenly thought/claimed.

Also, I haven't heard of anyone else having any problems with the v2.0/2.1 firmware upgrade, at least not in terms of degrading the sound quality. Indeed, you say you've tried both firmware versions since the problem started, and unless I mis-read your post, you seem to be saying that they both now exhibit the problem? That would suggest it isn't a firmware issue (because you had one of those firmware versions originally without problem).

Is there anything else that happened to your amp around the time you did the firmware upgrade? For example, did the amp get knocked or moved in any way that could have caused physical damage?

Also, have you checked guitar cables, connections; pickups (especially batteries if you have active pickups), etc.

If none of the above resolve it, you're probably best at this point contacting Fender directly, or the store where you bought the amp.

I think it is a firmware update problem due to the fact that the amp was running fine without noise, then I made the firmware update and from one second to another right after turning on the amp again the noise appeared.

The only thing I did before the firmware update was to download a sound preset from the fuse community which didnt work due to the old firmware version. The fuse software just said that the preset was not usable or invalid (dont remeber the exact wording). But I think this has nothing to do with it. The next thing I do is to bring back the amp back. Then I will see.

Connect the amp to your computer, and load FUSE. Then click Main Menu, click the HELP menu and select About Fender FUSE...

In the screenshot above, it displays the firmware version of my amp as 1.10 -(Jun 11 2012)

The fizz have definitely nothing to do with the fizz from Mustang V.1, that fizzing had to do with the poweramp section which have been replaced in V.2
