Hi all!
I´m a keyboard player, mostly using my Korg SV1 electric piano. I happend to try the Mustang I with it and it sounded very good.
Then I tried it with the Mustang III v2 and there was a striking difference in the sound, to the better, so I bought it.
I mostly use the Mustang as a preamp, I take the signal from the phones output and run it into my mixer. Using the Mustang III as it is, with the 12" Celestion does also sound very good.
Now to my problem: I wan´t my preamps and mixer to stand close to the left of me, so I can change the sound as I play, but I wan´t the speaker to be a few meters behind me. So I took the amp chassi out of the Mustang cabinet, installed Speakon contacts in the chassi and the cabinet, speaker connections and speaker lead is properly installed/ connected but there is no sound out from the speaker, only a little thump is to be heard when I turn the amp on. Headphone output is working OK.
I can´t see any fuse(s) when I inspect the amp, so I´m a little con(fuse)d. Is there any fuses? Any suggestions, apart from sending it to service, are welcome!!

So I took the amp chassi out of the Mustang cabinet

That's the thing, should not have done that!

If I understand what you've done, the problem is simple. Plugging anything into the headphone jack mutes the speaker. Doesn't the v2 have XLR outs?? That is a more appropriate connection to use to send to a mixer.

Hi Thompal!
Yes, the XLR´s are probably the way to go from to the mixer.
Re. the phones output: when I unplug the output the speaker is still silent.
Come to think of it, perhaps I have a dodgy phonesoutput that cuts the speaker even when there is nothing connected?
I´ll have to check that out(put)!

You can't send it to Service. You voided the warranty.

No, i think he can bring it to service even if the warranty is invalidated, clearly is no longer a free service: there will be to pay something for the repair (if it is possible do it)
at least in Italy they do so.

Why would you butcher a completely good amp? You could have just read the owner's manual.

If you put the chassis back in the cabinet and re-make all the original connections, does it then work? If so, then the problem is with the additional cables/connections you've added. If it doesn't work when re-assembled, then you've broken something.

In that case, can you test the speaker with a different amp, or test the amp with a different speaker - you'll then know whether you've broken the amp or the speaker.

If you've broken the speaker, a replacement is an easy diy fix. If you've broken the amp, then I doubt any repair would cost less than just buying a new amp - because I suspect that's all they'll do, substitute a whole new amp. I doubt it's cost-effective to do detailed electronic diagnosis and repair on the existing circuit board.

I realise you've already bought a Mustang amp, but (and in particular if you have to buy something else to replace a broken amp) for your purpose a Mustang Floor connected to a separate active monitor may be a better solution. It gives you the controller right next to you and the speaker some distance away, without having to take anything apart.

Or if you particularly want the combo amp, maybe for its rotary controls (which the M-Floor doesn't have), then don't take it apart. Buy a separate active monitor and drive it from the amp's headphone or XLR socket (or even use fx-send as a line-out). Or if you want a passive speaker, just disconnect the internal speaker cables from the speaker (easier and less risky than taking the chassis out of the cabinet!), extend those cables and connect to an external passive speaker.

Fixed!!
After several (a lot!) push in/ push out with a plug in the phones output, the amp suddenly came to life! Why it died I don´t know, but something in the headphone output was shortening the speaker output.
That will have to do for now, if it gets silent again I´ll have to replace the headphone output.
scott-uk: Thank´s for your effort and time, I really appreciated that!
