Hello. I have a Mustang IV (V1), only out of the box for one week. When the four-button footswitch is plugged in, the presets sometimes change by themselves, usually with the number increasing; e.g., preset 75 suddenly changes to 76, then 77, ... This happens without me touching the footswitch. Anybody else experienced this? Thank you.

I have not encountered this issue but if i was you I would check the cable for continuity with a multimeter, or even just try another cable and see if it fixxes the problem, a shorted cable could cause this type of issue, but yeah just check the cable and try another cable any mono 1/4" guitar cable will work

I have seen many bad 4-button Mustang footswitches. The one we use in church has a mind of its own. It does all kinds of crazy stuff. Even the brand new one I use on a MIII v2 acts up sometimes.

Hi All,

We will be happy to assist. If you are seeing issues with the Fender® MS-4 foot switch, as described, we would recommend that you contact your dealer and have them arrange for a replacement unit. If the issue persists after you get a replacement unit, we will be happy to assist further.

Me, the other night....except mine started decreasing the preset number!
I regret to say that I've had this before, a few months ago....and it was soon followed by the amp cutting out for no reason, but only for a split second at a time.
I eventually sent it back to the retailer for repair - it was just inside the warranty expiry date - but got a brand new amp back instead, so I'm afraid I can't throw any light on what the actual problem was.
(Note I was asked to send the amp (Mustang 3 v.1) back, not the pedal...)
Currently this is my third Mustang in (now) just over 2 years...
The first went faulty during the first year, and was replaced by a brand new job courtesy of the retailer's 1 year warranty.
An important thing to note is that Fender's UK warranty only lasts 2 years (unlike certain other locations where I understand it to be significantly longer) but it doesn't "restart" with every new amp......I fear I'm looking down the barrel of an expensive repair shortly.

Hi NoLongerJackNelson,

We wanted to chime in here and suggest that you make sure that the power source you are using is a stable one. It is always a good idea to use a good quality surge protector to help reduce the chance of voltage spikes (surges). The behavior you are reporting is quite unusual as the Fender® Mustang™ amps are quite reliable products.

If you continue to experience issues with your amp/foot switch, please be sure to connect the gear in a separate location to see if the power source is having any impact on the gear (primarily the amp). And let us know how it goes and if we can assist further.

Best Regards,
