Hi there

Thought I'd best ask this on here seeing as several of you appear to have them. I'm thinking of getting a Mustang Floor for gigs and practicing (backing track jamming) etc.

Are they considered as good/better than the competitors' similar units (i.e. gt-100 and Zoom etc)? Are you owners all happy with them? Are the sounds close to the modeled amps?

Regards

I have to say

The demos on Youtube are very good. I'm very intrigued by this and will likely snag one. :D

Just been looking at the manual. When creating and saving a preset, it says that you select an existing preset to overwrite. Does this save your newly created preset over the 'only' instance of the selected preset to be overwritten, or is their a user bank of presets in addition to factory ones (which would remain intact)?

Hope this made sense. Just finished a 12 hour shift :?

Thanks

Loakky

There are 100 preset slots, that come loaded with some factory examples. Every time you save a preset you overwirite one of those 100 slots. You can do a fatiry reset to recover the 100 presets.
Presets are exportable/importable/backup/retorable via the PC/Mac application Fuse.
If you are a heavy use of effects there may be better units out there, but I think the amp emulations that Fender developed are the best in the market right now.

I don't know if this will help you in your decision making but I am stunned by what i can do with my Floor. I love this thing for so many reasons so I just better not get started or i will be writing a time encompassing small book. What can i say, I am Floored!!!

Thank you for your replies

I'm sooo thinking of getting this next week. I'm mainly playing blues, country and a bit of rock (nothing too metally), so I don't need loads of fancy chorus and flangey stuff - if any.

Been watching more demos and was wondering if it was possible to plug a guitar into the Mustang Floor and output to a combo 'and' PA System simultaneously? One demo got me confused regarding the 'Output Voicing' in that it was suggested that selecting 'combo' would switch amp modelling off if an unbalanced output was going to the front end of an amp/combo. What would be the point in losing amp modelling? Would you only be left with the FX stomps without presets?

Also, wouldn't switching amp modelling off then prevent a useful send to a PA? I may have answered my questions myself but I'm not sure....lol. Or am I not getting something? :?

Not true!

Your getting a Floor and will not be missing anything. :D The Floor is an extremely versatile piece of equipment. Metal, tons of foot switches and pedal, tons of outputs, tuner, great amp models, great effects especially the delay and reverbs etc........................

With that said my favorite crunch and lead sounds are obtained by using my overdrive pedals before the Floor. My old Morley Wah is in front as well and sounds freaking great through the Floor.

I just wanted to add that the Marshall British 80s amp and similar to the British Steel and South of Heaven patches gets excellent rhythm crunch, but for lead soloing my tube overdrive/distortion pedal puts me into solo heaven on a good 65 Twin patch and yes trade secrets are indeed being revealed here folks. 8)

I Love My Floor Can't you tell!!!

If they would add the dirt boxes from my MIII v2 I'd get one today.

I have been using my Mustang Floor for awhile now, mostly for recording. I keep it hooked up to my Mackie firewire mixer for just in case situations. One of the most affordable DI's in the market today, I think. Plenty of good usable amp and effects tones. I also have a 2 x 12 cab with two 16ohm Texas Heats I sometimes run my Floor into a QSC power amp and into that cab, WOW! It will crank. I have a RANE dual band eq hooked up in the chain and I can pretty much dial in whatever tone I am trying to find.

I also have a Zoom G5 and I feel it surpasses the Fender Floor in features and usability, but I find myself having to tweak it a little more to get the same tone I do with the Fender Floor.

I have some pretty nice tube amps, but I find myself jamming and practicing a lot more with the two modelers I have..

Some of my tubers are, DRRI, Blues Deluxe, Blues Deville and an Egnater Tweaker 15 head...

Haven't heard them yet; I only own a Mustang 2 amp v1 and the Floor. I am though a little jello-us (sic).

Haven't heard the Zoom G5 but I have a bunch of amps as well including a couple of Deluxe Reverb Reissues and haven't looked back since I bought the FLOOR. I tried some Pods years ago and couldn't even come close to useable sounds.

Hi again

You folks have totally sold me on the floor. I'm going to order one tonight. Should get it by Tuesday. I've been reading the manual but am trying to get my head around a couple of things. Can I ask for clarity on something else floor-related and another thing mainly gig/PA related.

I'm just thinking of situations when I may eventually use:

Unbalanced Left Out >> Combo
and
Unbalanced Right Out >> Mono PA

I understand that, while doing the above, I can use a different Output Voicing for each Output. However, what about situations when it is desired that the following is required:

Unbalanced Left Out >> Combo
and
Balanced XLR Left & Right Out >> Stereo PA

What would be the Output Voicing settings for this?

Or do you experienced guitar performers only mainly use one mono channel on a PA in gig situations?

Thanks

Loakky

I use the Zoom G5 mostly for the modulations, delays, phase, echo and a ton of other different effects... I use it mainly in the effects loops of my tube amps, but it works in the effects loop of the Mustang Floor as well.

The Zoom G5 is a pretty amazing tool, once you do the scroll mod to it and it has a 60 second looper built in....

I sold about 1500.00 worth of stuff after I got familiar with the Zoom G5 and now just use the Zoom G5..

I think that the Mustang Floor has a better amp modeler for the Fender Amps, but the Zoom G5 surpasses it on the way it allows you to have nine different effects in any order you want and they are drag and drop in the editor software, or on the fly during a gig....

I think you would have to make some kind of concession like adjusting the EQ on the amp or PA. Also *good* floor monitors hooked up to the PA monitor outs can give you the sound your audience is hearing on stage and can work wonders depending on the venue without even a combo amp and your back or roadies will love you for it.

Thanks HIO

Well...that's my Mustang Floor ordered. Should get on Tuesday.

Regarding your trade secrets, I may get a Tube Screamer and CS3 to stick there with my Fulltone Clyde Deluxe

In terms of gigs and PAs. Is it the norm for guitars to go the PA in stereo or just one side in mono?

Thanks

Loakky
