I am torn between the 2. I like the size of the IV and portability of it. I like the sound and punchy bottom end of the V with a cab. I just don't like the weight of the 4X12. I already have a 4X12 cab so I just need the head. Any thoughts?

Does your existing 4x12 cab have two completely independent circuits, one each for the left and right channel outputs of the Mustang V head? That's what you need for the M-V. The M-V cab is really two 2x12 cabs in the same box. See:

I have the M-IV 2x12 and have never thought it lacked anything at the bottom-end. But then I'm not using it to fill a big room or go particularly loud. What will you be using the amp for? That will affect the advice / opinions you get.

I have a Line 6 cab that has stereo inputs at 8 Ohms. It has Vintage 30 s which sound great. I worry that the IV won't be as percussive as the V. I tried the IV and it had plenty of bottom end but it wasn't as tight as the V due to the open back design.
AS far as being practical, The IV will be way more portable. I don't play large gigs so the IV would be the way to go.

As per another recent topic, you could always attach a panel to make it a closed-back, if that's the sound you want.

Good idea. Maybe that's what I'll do...
