Just bought my first electric guitar yesterday! An Epiphone Dot and also bought a Fender Mustang 1 amplifier.
I've never played electric guitar before, always played acoustic/classical guitars so am not very knowledgeable when it comes to sounds/effects etc on amps.
So i've had a bit of a play with the amp and whilst there is a variety of really cool sounds with the presets i am finding it difficult to get a nice ''classic'' distortion that doesn't sound too heavy or crunchy and would really appreciate some advice on this.
Also my main playing style is finger picking and i was wondering does anyone know any nice warm tones on the amp without too much effect?
Any tips of regular distortion and clean warm tones would be greatly appreciated!

Not trying to be a jerk: take it back if it's still within return period and get an Mustang 2 for only $100 more. Totally worth it. Speakers matter. Or get Mustang 3 if you can.

Mustang 1 sounds like a toy due to closed back and tiny speaker.

It does have the advantage of being easy to carry, though. And if used primarily with headphones, it would not matter.
