Well, I traded up my Mustang III v1 for a v2 mainly because I wanted the XLR outs for sound reinforcement with my PA speakers.

After playing, tweaking and using the v2 for several days now, all I can say is... WOW!

I transferred and had to retweak some of my patches because I noticed that my sound was slightly different. Not different in a bad way just not quite what I was used to with my v1. I realized that unlike the v1, my new v2 was taking my external pedals better.

Today I did some testing, I had my 3 guitars and swapped between them. With the v2 I could tell a lot of difference between my 2 Les Pauls. I had hotter pickups in one and previously it didn't really seem like they were hotter, both of the LP's sounded the same basically. Now the nuances of my guitars are coming through just as they do on my tube amps.

The XLR out is fantastic. If you haven't used it, do it. I record and monitor through a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 and I can tell you that Fender stepped up the game with the modeling on the v2. The models seem more responsive all around and more "tube" like. This was a very good upgrade for me and I'm completely satisfied.

Hi Bulldog,
yes is what i recently experienced too: i mean, to the time when I had not a Mustang 3 (vers1 first and then vers2 from Easter), I only used Roland or Boss pedalboard (in order of appearance, GT-5, Roland VG 88)
amplified by the "return" of a combo Laney W60 (all solid state analog) used as a power amp ...
well, the amp models (boogie, marshall and various others), especially combined with od / distortion were not convincing .. lacked transparency and vividness .. the overall sound in output was like saying a little foggy .. and was not dynamic too.

Already with the first version I heard sounds much better, more dynamic amplifiers, although unfortunately I stumbled upon the famous problem of the "fizz" on the clean tones .. which is why I had to get me to replace the amp. The second M3 V.1 became free from that problem coinciding with the firmware update either 1.9 or 1.10.
Resold the M3 V.1 (and also roland vg88 + GR33 guitar synth, time before ) bought at various times, a GR55 (synth + modeller, multi effects, looper, and band track player) and the new M3 V.2 ..
I must say that although Roland has somewhat improved its models (amp / cab, stomp) with regard to the amps models are not as good as those of Fender. The Roland modeller technology seems to be more and less the same generation of years ago.
However i use the guitar models (for other models beyond my vintage Yamaha SG800) that seem excellent and also some distortions that are missing in the Mustang, for example '60 Fuzz -> fuzz Face model before the input of Mustang.
and with appropriate adjustments, the sound is dynamic and realistic.
You can appreciate the various nuances of the Stratocaster model (twangy resonances), Telecaster, but also my real electro-acoustic Yamaha or acoustic models using clean tones on Mustang of course.

So go ahead with firmware updates Fender! the road is now open.

Congrats on the new amp I think the MIII V2 is awesome, I'm enjoying it much more than the MIV V1 I had last year. The added XLR outs is a great addition, I stopped using my SM57 since getting the MIII the amp sounds great into the PA.

You know, another thing that I've noticed is that when the v.2 is cranked up, it doesn't generate as much heat. Before with my v.1 when you cranked it up a bit, you could smell the heat when you got close to the amp, like a hair dryer smell.

Anyone else noticed that or is it just me?
