Am I reading the manual right? Can the MIII v2 have a pedal wah and compressor at the same time? It looks like that wah is on the stomp and mod blocks. I have an MIII v1 and this would me a reason for me to upgrade.

yup, wah is the only effect to appear both in the stomp and mod categories. You can actually apply it twice if you like :)

Sweet. Now if they'd only put the compression and overdrives on different blocks...

Amen! Why can't Fender add the COMP to other blocks so we can have OD and COMP at the same time? There are some empty slots!

well,
the more complete and best solution would be the "Host - Inn Keeper" configuration i already suggested :
each of the 4 groups of effects can become inn keeper and host an effect of the other three groups ... that effect becomes a host, and adds to the list of others selectable in that inn keeper category.
The best thing would be for completeness you can also change the order of the effects in the chain without the use of Fuse (models with display). Even this has already been suggested.
That system would eliminate the need for duplicate effects on a permanent basis as the current wah bilocated and would allow, again as part of just 1 active effect for each group, presets based (but not limited to 2 effects of course) on both compressor and distortion, or with two modulations, chorus and phaser, flanger and phaser ... double distortion combinations : overdrive (or booster) and fuzz (also activated alternately), 2 delays, and many other combinations. It would be feasible because many times we do not need presets with all 4 different types of effects.

The Zoom G3/5 have 6 or 9 DSP blocks that any effect can be assigned to until you run out of DSP. Truly flexible.
