Hello there!

I'm a beginner here and was asking for help to create a specific preset for my Mustang Amp.

I just bought and Epiphone Les Paul Standard Pro.

I'm trying to get the sound of the song lil Devil from The Cults Electric Album.

I cannot find it on the fuse web site and I just do not know enough about all the settings on my Fuse program to figure it out.

Would appreciate any help on this.

Michael

wow, mjordan55, and you signed Michael. Is this the Michael Jordan?

Just kidding of course - these preset requests are hit and miss, hopefully someone will take an interest and help you out. I can say I'm pretty unlikely to have the time to mess around with it anytime soon, but here's the song in question in case anyone can take a crack at it:

Not familiar with the group (I'm and old fart) but it sounds a lot like "Have a Drink on Me" by ACDC, but what the heck do I know.

The album's nearly 30 years old, maybe it's that you're too young :-)

My usual answer to requests like this is to suggest the OP do some research on what actual equipment the guitarist in question used, and build a preset around that.

In the case of Billy Duffy, he used Gibson Les Paul guitars into Marshall JCM 800 amps, possibly/probably with no other effects. He is of course also famous for using Gretsch guitars, with high-output filtertron pickups:

So I'd start with the Mustang's "British 70s" or "British 80s" amp models, and any guitar with humbuckers; your Epiphone LP is fine. Turn off all other effects (ok, maybe a bit of reverb for ambience) and play around with the amp gain and guitar volume until you obtain a sound you like. Also try different cab simulations, they can have a surprising effect on the overall sound.
