Hi,
Starting from the somewhat difficult to achieve: Europa tone of Santana (studio version or '70 live version), i based the preset for distorted to cleaner tone on an American '90 model with the gain almost to a minimum.
As suggested by some of you, the Bias is +50% to imitate a mesa boogie mark model.
The Master less than half. I do not have decide how to set the Presence .. I have yet to experiment further.
Then i thought to add the Fuzz effect (included also in V.1) , not the big muff because it remains somewhat muddy also with gain lower, particularly in this combination.
the fuzz settings i thought was: set the gain at highest level , control the level with the EXP-1 in a range from about 3 to 10 for sustained parts. Octaver is disabled of course.
It works very good with high gain settings expecially combined with the suggested technique (found in other forum) to balancing the 2 guitar volumes (on my Yamaha SG800 .. similar to Santana guitar of that time)
holding one to 3 (fixed) and the other between 7 (but I would say even higher for sustained parts) and lower values for clean tones.
the problem or at least, the thing that does not work, is when you go to look for cleaner tones lowering the volume 2 of the guitar and in the same time also lowering the level of fuzz with the EXP-1.

I knew that, and on a professional youtube demo I got confirmation, on Arbiter Fuzz face when you lower the volume on the guitar, even with the fuzz gain at maximum, you can clean up the sound (or use the pedal as a booster almost clean by lowering the gain and raising the level) ..
this is not possible with the fuzz included in the Mustang .. the distortion it produces is never completely removed in the sense that it has a behavior that reminds me i would say a noise gate .. if the input signal is low or the gain is lowered, the tone becomes somewhat fragmented / grainy, or however remains dirtied /buzzy , which makes the playing more quiet parts with a sound bizarre ... there is something that disturbs the clean sound while in reality the lowering the guitar volume should give a clean vivid sound .. as a booster.
Initially I thought that the effect was the model of the fuzz face arbiter (with the added octaver parameter) but doesn't seem to behave that way.
So, what real fuzz is imitating?
I should try (and I will in the next few days) one of the models included in my Roland GR-55, but it would be better to find a solution with only the Mustang and its control pedals / expression for not having to carry around too much stuff.

I'd like it to be added a model of fuzz face, in the Stomp section of mustangs .. in order to have that kind of tone "buzzy" but which responds to velocity or signal level.
Not to mention the fact that this type of model would also be useful for various songs of early Pink Floyd (before the use of the big muff) and more suitable for several sounds of Jimi Hendrix.

What do you think?

EDIT: the "bizarre" behaviour i was talking about really was referred to Fuzz in combination with British Watts model with gain medium to low settings. And in part also with other British amp models as british '70 or '60.. all basically clean amp when set to low gain settings.
(There was a part of the message i forgot to include by copy and paste).
With American '90 model at lowest gain settings an moderate Master settings , the Fuzz seems to have an almost correct behavior lowering the guitar volume(s) at very low value..
fortunately these old potentiometers are of the type very gradual, logarithmics (and allow very fine adjustments from clean (under certain condictions) to fully saturated .. although clearly the overall level drops enough if you do very low settings.
