This response is for the Fender Rep.

Just so you know, you might want to alert Fender Corporate about Guitar Center. These guys are WELL KNOWN for opening boxes of gear, taking out cables and sticking the cables in a drawer so they can SELL THEM SEPARATELY for more money. They also throw away documentation from those boxes.

I've talked to a number of other musicians on other forums and they tell stories about how GC doesn't listen at all. One in particular ordered a Marshall 4x12 cabinet and told them to leave it sealed in the box. He would collect the box itself with everything in it that afternoon. When he got there, they had taken the 4x12 OUT of the box, took the cable, and threw away the documentation. And all they said was "We took it out the box for you." Except that the guy had specifically asked them NOT to open the box.

GC also sells guitars separate from their cases. They know the guitar comes in a case, but let's look at a Gibson example. Gibson includes paperwork and documentation with their guitars, including a final itemized checklist with the guitar's Serial Number in the hard case pocket. GC will just grab any case from the back and put the guitar in it. They don't check that it's the original case that came with the guitar. They don't care that the checklist inside has a TOTALLY DIFFERENT serial number than the guitar you just bought off of their show-room walls.

This is HORRIBLE store management and policy enforcement on their part and I think Fender, Gibson, AND Marshall should really take a look at Guitar Center's Dealer status and get GC Corporate involved in looking into this issue.

yep, they're not the only ones, but they seem to be the worst offenders

all is ok, the guys at my local GC are not bad at all I've know a few of them for a while, the EXP-1 I got was used which is why it was only $39. Doesn't matter any way I did return it today I just felt I wasn't going to use it much.
