Hello, I have just bought a Fender Mustang I v.2 from America ( I live in Europe ). This was the first time buying any amps etc online from America. I stupidly plugged it into the sockets directly over here thinking it was the same but nothing happened, no lights, no sound or anything ( not even a pop or crackle ). I then realised that in America it is on 110v and not 230v like over here. So I went out and bought a current transformer, that works both ways going from 230v to 110v or from 110v to 230v. I checked that 110v was coming out of it then plugged the amp in but still nothing... I am asuming that the fuse has been blown. I was just wondering if anyone could help me with locating the fuse so that I can replace it.

Thanks.

I'm surprised no one has addressed your question, especially since there are some very knowledgeable people here, and some that have opened up their Mustangs. Maybe they're all on vacation.

There's no user-accessable fuse that I know of on the Mustangs. If there is one, it's probably similar to the Fender 212R amp--attached to the PC board inside the amp. This would require disassembling the innards of the amp to access, and again, I can't recall anyone ever mentioning a fuse or seeing one in the pictures of the insides of the Mustang.

Hopefully Fender TSL will address your question. I can't imagine there would no fuse on these things. It certainly would be ironic if the amp whose programming system is named "Fender Fuse" actually had no fuse on board to protect the amp. On the other hand, it has plastic jacks soldered directly to the PC board, so nothing would surprise me.

Judging from the lack of response from Fender TSL, I think it's safe to conclude there is no fuse in any of the Mustangs. There is Fuse but no fuse. Quite con-fuse-ing. I guess they saved two or three cents per unit by doing this.

Bottom line is: plug this amp directly into the wall at your own risk. Better to always run it through a surge protector.

I won't say anything about the 110v/230v thing. Or about whether the Mustang is road-worthy.

Hello,

I opened up my amp and I found the fuse in the Mustang I, it is on the first electronic circuit board, and the very first component after the cables come into from the On/Off switch. I managed to order some of the exact fuses and re-solder one in, it works perfectly now.
