I'm having trouble calibrating the EXP-1 expression pedal for my M III (v1). I did as the PDF manual said: plugged it the into the 4 button footswitch jack, turned off the amp & held the utilities button while I turned the amp back on. The button never did light up & go out like it says.
My pedal does not completely cut the volume (in volume mode) when backed off all the way, so it does need calibrating.
Any help appreciated!

Hi,
with Mustang 3 Version 2 the calibration operation works well... i don't know what is the behaviour with the Version 1 amplifiers.. i didn't have the EXP-1 then..
as soon as you solve your problem (try to ask to Fender Technical Support) you might be interested to know my little "discover" : at least in my case (i don't know other experience) to make an accurate calibration i had to move gently the pedal with the hands between the position of the heel and the toe, being careful to touch only (almost without applying pressure) points of the min and max positions.
In practice, you must arm yourself with patience .. is a work of precision. But the result will repay the effort.
Because i noticed, the rubbers damper and the felt tend to "bounce" back the pedal slightly from the minimum and maximum position and then the pedal will give slightly different values : eg 9.6 instead of 10 , or 11.6 instead of 12 (semitones for the pitch shifter)... both example in toe position.
This does not happen with the built-in expression pedal on my Roland GR-55.

The calibration procedure in the PDF manual is wrong. Fender have published an updated procedure:
http://www.fender.com/en-GB/support/art ... ion-pedal/

which says:

The EXP-1 expression pedal calibration procedure is as follows:

-Press and hold UTIL while powering on, UTIL LED should light up for 1 second.
-Move the expression pedal between the desired heel and toe endpoints to set the range.
-Turn the encoder knob to the next Preset to complete the process.

To clarify a point that isn't explicit enough in the second step of the above instructions: you must first move the pedal, in one movement, to the desired heel movement; then, in one movement, move it to the desired toe position. Do this just once: don't waggle the pedal backwards and forwards, don't move it to the toe position before the heel position, etc.
