First, I always liked big stereo sounds, being it two slightly different amp models or just some nice stereo fx. Played stereo amps since the Gallien Krueger 250ML came out. Maybe this is why I think my little Mustang I sounds so much better when I use the headphone out with my two Roland CM-30 monitors, even though they have an even smaller speaker (6,5“ dual cone).

Now, wouldn’t it be great if Fender released a little stereo Mustang based on the Mustang I? I think the headphone voicing is better than what the boxy sounding internal speaker delivers (being treated with a speaker simulation first), so my wish would be two 8“ dual cone full frequency speakers. And maybe some clever spacial width algorithm like the Yamaha THRs seem to have built in.

Marketwise it should be a nice alternative to the Yamaha THR series – maybe not as hifi but way more versatile and probably cheaper, too. Plus more street cred and mojo – hey, it’s digital but it’s still Fender!

What do you think?

I like the idea itself, I do wonder how well it would work out. When you put stereo speakers on something very small, it's hard to hear the stereo effect because the speakers are close together.

Perhaps something with removable speakers like those old-school boomboxes, so you can place one speaker on either side of yourself?

Or maybe this helps?

Or even this principle (two speakers emitting in a 90 degree angle plus some electronic trickery? The stereo image of the GT Spacestation is said to be phenomenal.
