I'm with you and find it hard to believe that the reverb is mono (yes, I did a sum to mono and it sounded the same as stereo).

I think Fender can do this.

I hope so. Pretty well every other modeller I can think of has stereo reverb (with the option of making it mono i.e. putting it before the amp).
Moderator?

Yeah, I don't really use it in my DAW, I just would like a stereo out (with stereo reverb) to the PA.

1. It's got nothing to do with trust, I just want to know if my unit (mustang III V2) is faulty or if ALL Mustang V2s have mono reverb.

2. I'd just like to have a definitive answer from Fender (although I think I know the answer).

OK I just figured since Fender TSL (Fender staff) already commented in this thread, you had gotten a definitive answer.

I do find it curious that you say you're working in a professional studio ... yet you are looking to use the built-in reverb in the Mustang III rather than using your higher-end outboard gear? Any particular reason?

Well... unless you're playing a really sparse tune with an ungodly amount of reverb, stereo reverb, especially one coming from a guitar amp in a live situation is going to be mighty hard to hear. The Mustang's reverb engine is no Lexicon or Eventide and even with those, the stereo effect is still going to be very subtle especially since the dry signal of a guitar amp is mono. It's hardly worth the effort.

Hi All,

There seems to be a lot of question in regards to the reverb function on your Fender® Mustang™ amplifiers. Our reverbs create a “stereo” signal from a mono input. If you don’t place a reverb effect in post position, the reverb will sound mono. This is because the amp model mono-izes the signal before processing. Please let us know if this helps and we can assist further.

Great point, FTSL, thanks for reminding me of that - I'd forgotten all about it. Indeed, any reverb in the "Pre" position will be mono. Perhaps that's the issue here, Joebeets.

Thanks for posting. It doesn't matter where I place the reverb, pre or post, it's always mono. I understand that it has to be post amp to be stereo but it's definitely mono from both the stereo XLR outs and headphone out. Is this possibly because I have a Mustang III (single speaker mono amp) or could it be I have a faulty amp?
BTW I know I'm monitoring correctly because the stereo delays are STEREO.

Joebeets, maybe the Mustangs' reverb is only "technically stereo". That is to say that the amp model's output is split to the left and right channels of the reverb's input. This would indeed make it "technically" stereo. However if the parameters of the two channels are identical in character, you will perceive no stereo psycho-acoustic effect. It will sound mono.

Fender TSL, care to elaborate?

Hi All,

So, after looking into this matter further, the information we provided in our previous statement was incorrect. The Reverb on the Fender® Mustang™ amplifiers (both V.1 and V.2) are not stereo. This is not something we considered a defect, but we are looking into this. If we decide to make a change to the existing firmware, such announcements will be posted, here on the Forum. Please let us know if we can assist further.

Thank you for the clarification, Fender TSL.
For even further clarification, if one places the reverb after say, a stereo ping-pong delay or stereo chorus, does it negate the latter effects' stereo sound and turn it into a mono signal?

Thanks for the reply! It would be cool if it could be added in a future firmware update?
