So I just started playing the guitar, I got one free from my work and have always wanted to play one. I learned a couple riffs from a few of my favorite songs, etc. Still much to learn.

After much research I found the Mustang III V2 to be the best bang for the buck and I could not be happier with it.

There are so many presets, and I am trying to figure out the names of the presets.

For example:

"Puppet Master" is Metallica
"E Minor Avenger" is Avenged Sevenfold
"Far Beyond Driven" is Pantera
And so on.

I listen to mostly that type of music as to why I know those right off the bat. But there are at least 50+ others I just have no clue. I tried looking through these forums but cant really find anything as to what the names are to bands. Is there a list or anything or is it just something you have to know and figure out? Thanks :)

So was that just a dumb question lol? If it is that's cool, I could probably figure a few more out I just though it would be nice to know what sound the amp is trying to model.

Or has nobody gone through and figured them all out yet?

Maybe we cant discuss such a thing on the official fender forum due to rights to the artists?

Hi,
you know..
usually i don't like the factory presets on digital processors. So i don't rely on that preset or patch (as call them Roland) with just a few exceptions. So it is not a main problem to me to understand what and who they was trying to emulate.

i think it is better build from scratch our own presets.. first you do a research on the web to understand the original gears and setting for that song (particularly amp and distorsion pedal) then you have to think how emulate it with the effects and amp models included in Mustang amp and also adding some external stomp/effect if you have them.

For example, If i would rely for my Carlos (Santana) tones starting from Mustang "Europa" preset i would be in the wrong way. That preset distorsion is basically too different or better with too much gain .. and there are also excess of modulation effect, delay... all is in excess on my opinion.

So the other way could be download the user presets from Fuse connected to internet. Often you can start from one of user preset and it requires just some tweaking to match your hear or taste.
And you could also ask for help in the forum to build a particular tone ... someone of users is rather good to do tweaking.

Dimitri

Thanks for your reply :) I have been spending hours messing with just this thing(this is a good thing) getting some really great tones out of it. People say Fender isnt known for Metal, but I think its awesome, I've made some pretty heavy stuff with it.

I guess I just wanted to know for my own education and curiosity what the presets where aiming for.

My goal was to try and make a sound from the Deftones. And great suggestion, I will have to google what Stephen Carpenter uses and go from there. Im sure building one from scratch would be best I agree. I did try and download a few for Fuse but it says they will only work with a Mustang I/II and it removes the stomp effect :(

To add to what Dimitri said, I find it easier to set up my own sounds when I start with the Basic amp presets, or by using the AMP button to change amp models.

I'll find a preset I don't much like, turn off all the fx, and use the AMP button to find an amp model that gets me in the ball park. Once you're done fiddling about, hit save twice, and you're done. ( you may need to go into the util menu to unlock the presets, in order to be able to overwrite them)

To add to your list, Pigs can Fly is a Pink Floyd inspired preset. Cortez something-or-other is a Neil Young sound from the Cortez the Killer era.

Everyone already said it but you'll be better off trying to create your own presets. The factory ones are already well made, but if you want them to sound REALLY good, just plug your amp into FUSE and play around. Eventually, you'll up with amazing soundind presets.

Also, "Whitechapel Heavy" is a preset based off Whitechapel, a deathcore/deathmetal band. Aussie Rock is AC/DC style preset (GREAT preset IMO, with a little tweaking), "D of SUM 41" should be a Sum 41 (Punk Rock band) inspired prset and well, as for the rest you just have to either figure it out or ask your friends for help. But it's not important to know what inspired the presets, use your ears more than your eyes :)

I like the OP OQ. Original question.
For example. I had never heard of Avenged Sevenfold. So it is interesting to see what Fender had in mind with that preset.

I love Santana's "Europa" and I agree that the Europa preset doesn't cut it. So I assumed they must have been going for the 80's metal band Europe ie "Final Countdown".

Here a couple of obvious ones.
Purple Fuzz = Jimi Hendrix Purple Haze
Blizzard = Ozzy Ozborne
British Invasion = Early Beatles

Actually this is OP's OQ:

The answer is no, there is no official documentation from Fender on what these presets are supposed to sound like. The same goes for the non-Fender amp models. Presumably for legal reasons.

There has been a good amount of speculation about the amp models, but I haven't seen anyone try to do an exhaustive list of the presets. You could be the first! :D

I/we should try to make an exhaustive list, why not, even if its purely for sh*ts and giggles.

Now, a lot of these wont be an emulation of a specific band, rather just a specific amp with some added effects with a generic name. Not sure what to tag those as, so I just left a ? for now.

I will fill out all the ones I know. If anyone wants to add to it, or see's any I am wrong so far on, please post here and I can edit the post. Lets see how complete we can get this :)
