Hi an0daw,

We would recommend possible doing a Firmware update as well as a Factory restore (press and hold EXIT button while powering up). We do recommend that you go ahead and backup your Fender® Mustang™ content using the Fender® Fuse™ Software before performing a Factory restore. Please let us know how it goes and if we can assist further.

After restoring to factory settings, the problem became even worse.

within 5 to 10 seconds after turning on the amp, the problem occurs.

After updating its firmware, I turned on the amp, then instantly, the problem occurs.

P.S. I noticed that even on firmware update mode, the pop sound still occurs.

Now the amp is useless. I cannot even play a note.

Hi an0daw,

Thanks for your feedback. It sounds like you amplifier needs to get Serviced. Depending on your location and how long you have owned the amplifier, this might fall under warranty. Please take a look at the link below to access our Warranty section on the Fender® website. If you have any further questions we recommend that you contact our Consumer Relations department using the contact information below. Please let us know if we can assist further.

The sad thing is, Fender warranty here in the Philippines only lasts for a year. ( http://www.yupangco.com )

I bought this amp june 2012, and the problem occured a month or so after the warranty expires

I can't find this stated anywhere on the yupangco site, are you sure? Where did you see that, on the warranty card that came in the box?

It's entirely possible that the Mustang warranty in the Phillipines is only 1 year. Same deal here in Australia. (2 years in the UK ?) And yes, it clearly says so on the warranty card in the box.

It appears to only be Fender's US customers that enjoy the privileges of 5 year security.

The theory put forward by Fender for these differences apparently is that general consumer laws in Australia (and maybe the Phillipines ?) provide protections that make a 5 year warranty 'unnecessary'.

Like a lot of theories, it doesn't stand up to close examination.

I forgot where I have read that. Maybe on the warranty card.

But before I bought the amp, I asked the salesperson about the warranty and I remember him saying that the given warranty for most of their product is 1 year.

as far as I know, North America citizens are the only one to enjoy its 5 year warranty.

Okay, I got an update.

I sent my amp for repair to a service center(yupangco makati, philippines) and I was told that it is the main board that is the problem. I was asked to pay for 8000pesos for the board (more or less US$200). which makes me sad because I bought the amp for 13,xxx pesos and just after a year, I have to pay more than 50% of its original price just to get it repaired :\

Hi an0daw,

We am sorry to hear that your amp needs service. We wanted to make sure that you had checked in with your local music store where you purchased to see if there were any options to get service for the amp under a warranty in your region. This is something that is handled in your region, so we would not be able to assist directly from the States in regard to the warranty. But we wanted to make sure that you have checked this out.

Please let us know if we can assist.

Best Regards,

It's the same with all other presets...

It happens with clean, high gain or somewhat crunchy...

The popping also occurs with just turning on the amp, after leaving it for like 10 minutes...

The amp will produce a pop sound then after the pop sound, if you tried to play the guitar into the amp, no sound will come out. But the amp's interface is still functioning. even with fuse.

This may sound stupid, but can you put the amp in the fridge, let it get cold, and then, while it's still in the fridge, play it and see if the problem still happens?

They said that it is the main board that was needed to be replaced.

Best Regards,

Too bad i have already sent it to the service center and paid a 50% down payment for them to order the main board that they told me was the part that needed to be replaced.

However, I might go to the store where i bought it and will check if there's an option for me to get a warranty if I had the time. I'm currently busy right now so time will tell.

I guess that the problem would occur less frequent. But the amp has been sent to the service center since september 14, and have me pay the 50% down payment (on october 2) they needed to order the main board they're talking about from fender US

---

Actually, the main board costs 8500pesos. I asked them for a discount and they gave me a 500pesos discount. I also asked them if I could get some reimbursement since its just a few months after their warranty expired but to no avail...
